Bend it Like the Other Beckham: Heidi Mount plays Posh Spice in this on-line only editorial from V. Though “chasing her kids all day,” really? {V}
Not So Fast: Gen Art, the nonprofit organization known for supporting emerging designers (including at points Zac Posen, Sari Gueron and Phillip Lim) is having serious financial trouble. This tipster says, “Gen Art deserves to die.” {Gawker}
Biba-licious: Biba’s up there with Halston as one of the brands we can’t quite keep track of. It’s just been announced that online retailer Marisot will launch Biba for fall using inspiration from past collection. Um, okay. {VogueUK}
Made Over & Under: Trinny and Susannah, the British makeover artists extraordinaire, are coming to America. Actually, they’re already here, taking Eric Wilson shopping and plucking poor souls out of Times Square and into Zara, including one woman who’d never heard of Elle MacPherson. {NYTimes}

Gen Art needs a couple of fashion show specific interns to assist in their Chelsea offices for the next couple of months.
Starting in January, they need people to scout designers, manage press clippings, help plan events, execute fashion shows and perform general office duties.
To do those things you should have at least a 3.0 GPA, be proficient in Excel, be detail oriented, an excellent multi-tasker and available at least two days a week (plus a couple of evenings here and there to go to the events you helped plan). You should also, obviously, be really into fashion and desperate to learn about event planning within the industry. And if you’re at all familiar with Photoshop you get bonus points.
Send your resume and cover letter to fashionstaff@genart.org with FASHION INTERNSHIP in the subject line.
And we’ll see you in February.

UPDATE: You guys are good. The prize goes to reader Cait - thanks for playing!
That’s right kids, the next major GenArt fashion event date is set, so mark December 1st on your iPhone if you want to:
- Shop designs from Falls, Porter Grey, Hayden Harnett, Bliss Lau, etc (check out their official page for the full list) at 70% off prices
- Shop while taking advantage of the open bar and (hopefully!) cookies from the amazing Insomnia
- Shop with your tickets that you paid 20% less for because you remembered to type in “fashionista” at the checkout
And if you still need more, stay tuned for tomorrow. We’re going to test your fashion knowledge, and the winner gets a free ticket to the event…
See you there!
Keds were our sneaker of choice in grade school, but they haven’t been since - and we’re sure we’re not alone in this.
But have you seen the sneakers they had some GenArt kids design?
At left, is the limited-edition design by artist Anne Faith Nichols, of British Columbia. They’re blue, there’s a bird, they’re $60 and they even come in half sizes - in short, they’re kind of perfect for jeans on the weekends and printed mini-dresses for Spring.
Plus, wearing them around would be a little like time traveling - and who didn’t want to do that in sixth grade?
We met the Porter Grey girls at GenArt in July. We loved them, but we loved their clothes even more, and have the purchases to prove it. And so, we’re very excited to tell you that they’re coming to a trunk show near you!
Who: Porter Grey - two sisters, one great design duo
What: A trunk show, as in, a chance to buy the best stuff
Where: Bowery Hotel, 355 Bowery at 3rd St
When: Only this weekend, Saturday & Sunday, noon- 7pm
Why: Because their clothes are pretty, simple, and so you should wear them.

You know how sometimes you get to a show, and whichever celebrity’s kind of front row-ing for that designer is already wearing a dress that still hasn’t even come down the runway yet?
Well, GenArt and YOOX are going to make it so we can all do the same (sort of, anyway.)
The day after their twelve emerging designers show at the Grand Ballroom on the 4th, fifteen pieces from each designer will be available for purchase on YOOX.com, in five different sizes per piece.
This year’s GenArt show will include runway presentations by JF & Son, Ideeen, Sariah, Lialia (left), Richard Ruiz, Chree, Hyden Yoo, Philip Sparks, Antoinette Lee Designs, Deka Ray, Heutchy and TNC Studio.
And if these names mean nothing to you, just keep in mind that it wasn’t too long ago that the list would have included names like Zac Posen, Phillip Lim, Eugenia Kim, Milly and Sari Gueron.
See you at the Ballroom.
This just in from the good people of Gen Art:
They need interns, now.

The position lasts into Fall, but it’s not paid, though we’re sure we don’t need to explain what a great opportunity this is.

Good Luck!
GenArt’s Spring fashion show is next Monday, and as usual, it’s a giant buffet of designers you’ve almost heard of, sponsors desperate for the youth vote, and the presence of Meredith Melling-Burke.
But this year, there’s something else that’s kind of funny:
Two of the “Designer of the Year” candidates are hot girls from Project Runway.
First up is Alison Kelly, whose Dahl NYC line (left) has been kicking around New York for a few years now and has fans in Hilary Duff and Charlotte Ronson.
Next is Jillian Lewis, the memorable #3 on this season’s PRunway, whose Vivienne Westwood knockoffs and expert tailoring nearly won her the winner’s crown.
It would be great to see either designer win the prize money (sponsored by Tone) because both are talented and driven young women in the industry.
We just hope their award doesn’t include a prize from the title sponsor - that would be Botox, and although wrinkled clothes aren’t acceptable, wrinkled foreheads are just fine…
