Alien Invasion: According to a McQueen spokesperson, ladies are clamoring for the “alien” shoes from S/S10. Some want to wear them, some want them as art. We loved hearing that the process to make them is copyrighted. {Grazia}
In Goal: Before she debuted at Christopher Kane (in 2007), Karmen Pedaru was the goalie on the Estonian soccer team. Very cool. She also has a dental phobia. We know that pain and that’s less cool. {W}
Aspirational Hair: Serena’s the new Rachel. Blake Lively’s hair gets 713,000 hits with a Google search. We’re not loving the outfits but we would take the hair any day (as long as its not in that awful braid.) {NY Times}
Not Posh: Contrary to rumors, Victoria has no plans to become a model agency owner. We’re not gonna lie and say we wouldn’t have wanted to be a fly on the wall during an open casting with VB. {Vogue UK}

Smile & Nod: Erin Wasson might like grunge, but prep pays the bills. She’s all smiles in J.Crew’s fall catalog. {J.Crew}
Word Up: A collection of fantastic quotes from Tom Ford, including his senate ambitions, his tailored Fruit of the Loom and the difference between a Gucci and a YSL woman. {Guardian}
Oh Boy: Penn Badgley tells Cosmo that he likes his women to dress “simply”. You know, like in “plunging v-necks” and “thigh high boots”. Sweater dresses are good, too. This editorial, however, is creepy. {Cosmopolitan}
Designer Facebook: Gucci’s launched their own social networking site, Eyeweb, to promote their new sunglasses; Frida Giannini even makes a cameo in one slideshow. There are only two models for now, but more to come, and more colors, for spring. {Grazia}
Bananas for Anna: We’ve had a crush on Anna Friel since Pushing Daisies, now she’s playing Eliza Doolittle in London’s West End. Here, some of her best looks. {ElleUK}
So Liu Me: Alexi Lubomirski shot Liu Wen for this month’s Vogue China. If anyone can skip pants in lieu of a striped leotard and camel coat, it’s Liu. {Models}
Big Apple, Big Move: Henry Holland told Grazia he’d consider moving here after coming to town to launch Six Scents Series Two. That very night we talked about swapping apartments for a month, had I known he was this serious, I’d have packed my bags already. {Grazia}
One More Time: We’ve already talked about the top girls this season - who walked the most and the best - but this is the prettiest mash-up we’ve seen yet. And you know how we feel about pretty. {COACD}
Grand Sam: Samantha Morton’s landed the cover of T’s winter issue which is full of ‘nutty’ Brits including Alice Dellal, Stephen Bayley and Vivienne Westwood. We barely recognize her behind the fake lashes and hat - it’s a long way from The Libertine. {TheMoment}

Right On: Tabitha Simmons styled a great mini-shoot with the 2009 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists. There are actors (Sebastian Stan), there are models (Lily Donaldson), there are designers (Patrick Ervell) and there are really great clothes. {Vogue}
Best Dressed: Nora & Delia Ephron talk about their new Broadway play, Love, Loss, and What I Wore, which they adapted from Ilene Beckerman’s book. They reflect on Saks, I. Magnin, Audrey Hepburn and the magic of the perfect outfit. {Glamour}
Sex Sells: We’d kind of forgotten about the Sex and the City sequel, but now Penelope Cruz is in it and we’re suddenly really interested. Whoever dressed in her in that head-to-toe Rick Owens look the other night could give Pat a run for her money. {Grazia}
WTF: Pamela Anderson apparently used a random nine-year-old girl to hold up her train all night at an awards show. Um, and referred to her as her “daughter” and made her sit at her feet? Well, that’s the weirdest part of the day so far. Other than the fact that I was on the Fox News site. {FoxNews}

Pretty Babies: Chanel and Jourdan are on the new Teen Vogue cover, looking beyond adorable. Yay! And the mag put together some of their most fabulous runway moments. {Teen Vogue}
It’s Official: Renzo Rossi finally confirms the long-believed rumor that Martin Margiela is not designing for the Maison. Apparently he’s “here but not here” which sounds to have just the right amount of mystery. {Vogue UK}
Back in Plaid: These shoes mark the return of the Burberry plaid. Are you ready for it, or is it still too soon for you? {Nylon}
The Season of the Nail: We haven’t seen this much chatter about nails in quite a few seasons. But we like it, because what’s easier or more fun to change than your nails. Plus for all you West Coasters there’s a rundown of great mani/pedi places in LA, including one of my personal faves, Recess. {LA Times}

Panty Raid: Eric Wilson’s number three trend of NYFW, Spanx. Well, really briefs, outside the clothes. Linda Wells finds it “perfectly insane”. We’ll respectfully agree to disagree. {NY Times}
To Milan They Go: Apparently it’s sweltering, but Mr. Armani really brought the goods to kick things off. Think flouncy dresses and lots of flats. And then came the D&G cowgirls. Yee-haw! {Joe Zee’s Twitter}
Hair God: Bumble’s Jimmy Paul is often the person behind the runway’s coolest hairstyles. You’ve probably copied something he created more than once. Here’s how he spent NYFW. {Vogue Daily}

In the Dollar Dumps: The Post reports Derek Lam’s having a few financial issues. He’s allegedly losing $1 million per month and his CEO’s been MIA for all of August. The CEO, of course, denies the whole thing. {PageSix}

We love hitting up Grazia UK in the morning for our dash of British dish. And now they’ve gone and launched in France too. Will we ever see that perfect mix of fashion and gossip here in the US? A girl can dream, right?
Anyway, today brings news that Kate Moss will indeed be hitting the British small screen soon in a documentary series on her longtime hairdresser and BFF, James Brown.
The show follows James as he opens his salon. Obviously, Kate plays a big role. And the whole thing and is sure to be incredibly interesting and amusing.

In Vogue: We’re a sucker for epic young Hollywood portfolios in any magazine, but Teen Vogue’s is always styled best and has the most fashion - this time around that includes Alia Shawkat, maybe better known as Maeby Fünke, who happens to be co-hosting Rachel Antonoff’s SS10 presentation. {TeenVogue}
London Bound: Christopher Bailey talks to Hilary Alexander about what it means to show Burberry in London and how he may seem laid back, but is actually “very German” in his methods. {Telegraph}
Play Catch Up: Richard Nicoll tells Grazia about the calm before the Fashion Week storm. He doesn’t believe in guilty pleasures, just pleasure. As if we needed more reasons to adore him. {Grazia}

Oh no.
When designers and their commercially successful brands started heading back to London Fashion Week in honor of the British Fashion Council’s 25th Anniversary, our first concern was the probable influx of international editors — the stuffy kind who usually skip London because it’s way too fun and way too crazy.
But now Grazia’s given us a whole other reason to whine. They’re reporting a “planned mass showbiz exodus” to Topshop Unique’s front row. And the word “mass” isn’t being used lightly, rumored so far are Blake Lively, Taylor Momsen, Olivia Palermo, Anne Hathaway, the Olsens, Whitney Port, Kate Bosworth and Lourdes Ciccone.

Not Faris: Anna Friel is the West End’s new Eliza Doolittle, so Vanity Fair photographed her in loads and loads of pearls with touches of Alberta Ferretti & Julian Macdonald for a supplement to their UK edition. {VanityFair}
Venezia Bound: Tom Ford’s directorial debut, A Single Man, will screen at the Venice Film Festival on September 11 which means it’ll have a teeny, tiny, if any, fashion quotient in the audience. {LATimes}
The Mulberry Bush: Mulberry’s look book gets re-invented for the cool kids. It must be an English thing - we’ve never seen the Bayswater look so impossibly hip. {Nylon}
Ooh-La-La: Bonpoint’s founders opened Merci in Paris this March. Here’s a peek inside the charity shop with its specially designed Stella & YSL. It also houses food, vintage, perfume and furniture and looks positively heavenly. {Dazed}

Shopping Buzz: Singtex Industrial Company, based in Taiwan, is turning leftover coffee grounds into eco-friendly “soft, light, flexible and breathable” clothes that can be UV resistant and water-repellant. {Guardian}
Ghosts of Beales Past: A new family is moving into Grey Gardens. We hope this means Celerie Kemble is going to start wearing towels as head wraps and upside down skirts. We won’t mind if they take a pass on the hot plates and raccoon roomies. {WWD}
Is Moss the New Cowell? Kate is apparently in talks to judge on a Battle of the Bands-y show in Britain. Loves it. The girl certainly knows her way around a tour bus or a music festival. {Grazia}

No, No, and No: I am incredibly opposed to jean on jean. I will never be convinced otherwise. Brit Brit and JT scarred me for life. Kanye on Idol this season did not help the cause. {Grazia}
Does This Make You Smile? We’re not exactly sure why Lily Allen is designing jewelry. But we’ll reserve judgment until we see pictures of the whole collection on Monday. {Vogue UK}
Over and Done: Kiefer’s in the clear as the charges against him for headbutting Jack M. are dropped. We just hope he doesn’t cause any more trouble come September. {Us Weekly}

Grazia is in a tizzy today over Cheryl Cole’s eyebrow trim job. They compared a recent picture of the British pop singer to a picture from last year, where she has more going on above the eyes, and held up the older picture to be far more appealing. I think Cheryl looks pretty in both pictures, but definitely in different ways.
It’s amazing the difference removing less than an inch of hair can do for a face. My natural eyebrows are very thick. Even my tweezed brows are heavy. I once had them waxed even thinner, and was devastated. I saw a whole different person in the mirror. I underwent a similar transformation to Cheryl’s, and felt I was verging on plastic - like I had lost some part of my personality.

A picture is worth a thousand words, and in the world of fashion journalism, it is our job to supply those thousand words to dissect pictures.
Sometimes fashion throws a new trend our way that makes us go “Huh?” and we have to make do until someone somewhere coins a succinct term. For example, we originally struggled with the trompe l’oeil jeans, settling on “Faux-Denim Leggings”, before the term “jeggings” entered our vocabulary.
Or “treggings” (substitute “trousers” for “jeans”), as our British counterparts, and now the Collins English Dictionary, call them.

Die Hard: Do you think Tallulah’s getting ribbed about these pics over at her Bazaar gig? We’re just super glad that’s not our dad doing all those things because this is definitely more uncomfortable than anything her stepdad has ever Tweeted. {W}
All Tied Up: We’ve been rocking out old school knot bracelets since Memorial Day and plan to all summer long. Behnaz has a different spin. {Elle }
Thank You Selma: Charivari creator Selma Weiser passed away this weekend. We have her to thank for giving Marc his first fashion job and basically reinventing merchandising and retail. {WWD}
This is…Fashionair: Manager and producer Simon Fuller (he of American Idol and Spice Girls fame) is taking his wily media ways to the internet in September by way of a fashion website called Fashionair. Will VB be blogging? {Grazia}

Between Two Ferns: Along with millions of others, Britt and I saw The Hangover this weekend. It’s awesome. Zach Galifianakis kills. And so does his wardrobe, key pieces of which the kids over at the LA Times tracked down. We would be honored to join his wolfpack. {All the Rage}
Smile, You’re on Sara’s Camera: Sara Ziff just might be the Michael Moore of the modeling world. Prepare to be disturbed by what you see. {Fashionologie}
Stylishly Social: This timeline of socialite fashion makes us really miss Carolyn Bessette. {Refinery29}
Call Us: Apparently Bar and Leo have broken up. We’d like Mr. DiCaprio to note that while we may not be supermodels, we do care deeply about the environment and Scorsese films. {People }

Kate, Inc. Grows and Grows: Miss Moss is launching another fragrance called Vintage because of her love for “anything old…except old men.” {Grazia UK}
Miuccia Muses: CNN Asia scored a sit down with the designer. She says frivolity can be a good thing. Since we feel what Miuccia says always goes, we’re taking that mantra into the weekend. {Fashionologie}
We’re Peeling: Seeing how one of us (um, Abby) is way fidgety and has a bad habit of picking off her nail polish and causing unseemly nail breakage, a polish that’s literally designed to be stripped off without remover sounds pretty darn genius. {WWD}

We’re getting breathless e-mails asking what, exactly, is the deal with this Grazia item reporting an already battered rumor - that Nina Ricci is looking to replace Olivier Theyskens with an unnamed successor - from the front row at Spring 09 couture this week.
But honestly, we’re surprised it’s even come up again. Not only is Olivier’s Fall 09 show in mere weeks, but he just announced a major accessories line with Nina Ricci not even two weeks ago, and Mario Grauso, the president of Nina Ricci’s parent company Puig Fashion, recently made a point of reaffirming his love for Olivier after rumors of disharmony persisted for months.
Unless of course, all these facts are worth nothing, and Olivier is about to face a Facchinetti-style ousting this March (even though his contract with Nina Ricci isn’t up for renegotiation until this October.)
Guess we’ll have to wait until the dust (and front row boredom) settles.
