Herve's Gotta Balmain Crush

herve aw09 1.JPGSomeone besides Carine is majorly crushing on Chrisophe Decarnin’s designs for Balmain.

Mr. Azria paid tribute to the cult designer with peaked shoulder and slivers of sparkles on very rock star dresses. This was a much harder side of Herve Leger and the best of it belonged on the crowd that spends its nights partying in Paris, not the crowd sitting in the front row.

The Herve show always brings out an eceletic collection of television ‘starlets’. This year offered Sophia Bush, Michelle Trachtenberg, Lucy Liu, one of the new 90210 chicks, Joy Bryant and much to my Mad Men obsessive delight, a glowing January Jones.

They may not be the A-list, but they were a good group of girls to have around when taking a tumble on the runway. Not one, but two models spilled in their spiked platforms. They laughed, the crowd cheered and all was well in the land of commercial fashion.

As for the clothes? Lots and lots of sparkles, rough textures, bandaged dresses, of course, and cut-outs which are apparently the new sheer.

First girl to wear the one-shouldered disco ball get up gets a star in our book.

Joy Bryant: Blogger

joy bryant big smile.jpgWe noticed Joy Bryant snapping pictures from her usual front row seat at more than a few shows this past Fashion Week. We thought they were just for some kind of personal wardrobe management plan, but it turns out she’s been guest blogging the shows for Starworks.

We have no idea if the Next model / actress / Vogue girl about town’s planning on turning this into a full-time gig, but Starworks says she didn’t just blog for Fashion Week - she’ll continue to fill them in on her random musings and life bits throughout the rest of the year.

It’s a nice addition to the already entertaining Starworks blog - we highly suggest her post on never wanting to use the Shuffle mode on her iTunes she wrote for today. Kind of makes us wish F*** Me Pumps would “randomly” come on whenever we see a Gucci tote out at night, but that’s really a whole separate post.

Celebrities Heed Page Six Advice, Hit Fashion Week

1340204390_fd78f06bfa_m.jpg
Several weeks ago, we reported that publicists were having fashion panic attacks: No celebs were RSVPing to shows, the VMAs in Las Vegas were luring all the rock stars, and Fashion Week would be calm, serene, and flashbulb free.

Page Six discussed the story in detail,
wondering if celebs were more last season than trapeze tanks. They also hinted that stars would be wise to take advantage of the crowds, the press, and the potential free clothes, and haul over to Bryant Park.

It seems they listened, and listened good - and also, we hear, publicists started offering more money for celebrities to come support the shows.

Our favorite example so far?

Miss Sixty, where Demi Moore inexplicably arrived with Hilary Swank, Clive Owen, Mischa and Joy Bryant.

What will be left for Marc?
