Sally Potter, the renowned British filmmaker, takes on the fashion industry in her newest film Rage.
The film poses as a series of interviews shot by a young boy on his camera phone at New York Fashion Week. Behind the scenes he stumbles upon the craziest of the fashion crowd; Jude Law and Lily Cole play models, Judi Dench plays the fashion critic, Eddie Izzard’s the money and John Leguizamo’s his bodyguard.
Someone’s shot in the trailer and it looks as though a satirical fashion forward version of Clue ensues. The movie premieres via satellite September 24th, details here.
Finally — the first live action peek of Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus — and it’s packed full of Lily Cole.
The model, who looks more doll-like than ever, plays Valentina, daughter of Doctor Parnassus who’s played by Christopher Plummer. Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell take turns as Tony, collectively make this the most attractive film ever made. Lily’s in the background of at least half the clips, sometimes naked, once in a Valentino red dress, once making out with Heath and always framed by her wild red mane.
Our reaction to this is probably like a twelve-year-old’s to Twilight.
Cameron Diaz, Leo Di Caprio, Mickey Rourke, Rihanna, Russell Crowe, Pharrell Williams, Michelle Williams, Jude Law - no hang on, Jude lives here
.so apart from him, what are all these Hollywood’ers doing in London?
Looks like school is out in LA, as they seem to have descended en masse. Of course, the tabbies are having a ball speculating whether Cameron is here with her new “boyfriend” Leo di Cap, or if she’s dating Jude Law, who she hooked up with in the nightclub Movida. (A weird choice to be sure - it’s a bit bridge and tunnel.)
She will be happy to know, however, that Kate Moss’s hairdresser/bestie, James Brown, has finally opened up a salon in London. His staff charges, well, a snip - only £55. But to get the man himself, you need to be prepared to fork over £500.
Lily Cole’s new movie, Rage, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival this week.
The murder mystery, which also stars a cross dressing Jude Law, Steve Buscemi, Dame Judi Dench and Eddie Izzard, takes place on the New York fashion scene, or a dramatized version of it at least.
Here’s a clip of one of Lily’s monologues in which she sports a very YSL bob and some covetable liquid eyeliner. In the interview following the clip she muses on blogs and the fashion industry.
She also talks about inner versus outer beauty - something that’s pretty easy to talk about when you look like that.
Playboy sent us a copy of their magazine once. Those three reality girls were on the cover and I’m pretty sure we threw it away.
French Playboy sent us a copy of their magazine once. Lou Doillon was on the cover and we put the pages all over our wall.
It’s kind of like French Vogue and American Vogue, but not so drastic and with less clothing.
So we’re excited for Lily Cole. Faran reported in her Page Six Column that the red-headed-maybe-dating-Jude-Law-model will pose for the cover of French Playboy’s November issue.
Bet she makes this shoot look tame.
Shirley Maclaine and Audrey Tatou will both play Coco Chanel (in separate projects) and now a London rumor pins Jude Law down for the lead role in Halston, an upcoming biopic.
The movie would be produced by Harvey Weinstein, who recently bought the Halston label, and hired Tamara Mellon and Rachel Zoe to helm the hems of the vintage brand.
It seems like a brilliant seaming of Weinstein’s familiar film power with his new fashion outing, especially since the Halston show is one of February’s most anticipated runways - okay, really it’s one of the most anticipated front rows, with Weinstein acolytes likes Anne Hathaway and Gwyneth Paltrow expected to raid the nascent Halston sample closet for outfits.
If Jude Law seals his movie role before then, he’d probably be expected to attend, too - but would that prevent another Weinstein-friendly starlet, Sienna Miller, from also arriving on the scene?
