People’s Revolution Goes Brit

kelly cutrone to lfw.jpgThe British Fashion Council’s just made another announcement: People’s Revolution is taking over their stateside PR.

Kelly Cutrone’s firm will work to promote both London Fashion Week and British designers in general in the US.

And what better way to do that, really, then invite Bravo along to LFW to watch Kelly in action planning and promoting the BFC’s 25th anniversary celebrations at Somerset House. They’d like her to increase awareness of British fashion among US buyers and also, if possible, increase attendance at the week’s shows - most consider it the easiest to skip. Though we would never miss it.

Considering People’s Revolution’s probably the best known fashion PR firm outside of the industry itself, we’ll expect more crowds, more parties and more drama.

Woo-hoo.

Kell On Earth: It’s Real

kelly cutrone and whitney port.jpgBravo picked up Kelly Cutrone’s reality show in February and now, they’ve given it a name: Kell on Earth.

Here’s what they say about the series:

Kelly Cutrone has been called one of the “coolest, scariest and New York-iest people ever” and, judging from her frank demeanor and fashion world credibility, it’s easy to see why. Bravo takes a no-holds-barred look into the life of one of America’s most legitimate tastemakers as she balances running her wildly successful fashion PR company, People’s Revolution, with being a single mother and one of New York’s most notable women about town.

We’re wondering, logistically, how this will work. Now that Whitney’s Kelly’s ‘employee’ and Whitney’s followed everywhere by her own MTV camera crews, who decides who gets to film what? What if there’s major drama at People’s Revolution and MTV wants it for The City but Bravo’s determined to get it for Kell on Earth? You can’t just share dramatic tension.

Clearly, the only solution is to give the dueling camera crews their own reality show - name suggestions?

Jeremy Scott: The Cheese Stands Alone

jeremy scott aw09 .JPGA riot broke out at Jeremy Scott yesterday - and not because you-know-who finally descended upon Paris Fashion Week - but because the world was desperate for Scott’s red-telephoned Longchamp bags.

The one-offs were intended for rows one and two - home to Beth Ditto, Peaches Geldof, Cory Kennedy, Kelly Cutrone and Gareth Pugh - and the security guards were determined to do their job well - so well that we witnessed beefy French men grabbing them out of third row purses and putting them back in front.

Anyway, Scott was inspired by Mickey Mouse. Capes and coats made of Mickey’s white gloves and black and red mini-dresses printed with Mickey’s silhouette marched out to “Hey Mickey You’re So Fine.” Then there were brightly colored coats and hundreds of buttons covering corsets and dresses, all on models topped with angular black bobs.

At the end, everything was hole-y and one editor philosophized, “Britt, I think those holes are a metaphor for swiss cheese.”

It was like eating cotton candy in the middle of the gourmet seven course meal that is Paris Fashion Week.

Helena Christensen's Pretty Pictures

helena picture 1 copy.jpgLast night, I stopped by Helena Christensen’s photography exhibition, Far From, Close.

The launch, at Dactyl Foundation featured an incredibly eclectic group of people waiting in a ten minute line for Trader Joe’s wine.

Behati Prinsloo, wearing the same Hayden-Harnett cuff I treasure, waited in line while her boyfriend/jewelry designer Jamie Strachan huddled with Helena - in black feathers - and Jeff Koons.

Michael Stipe held court in the center of the room while Ally Hilfiger, looking more hipster than Hilfiger in buffalo plaid and motorcycle boots, ran around snapping pictures of everyone, including our own Jeremy (more from him later).

Kelly Cutrone slinked through the crowd in head to toe leather pouring Pellegrino and checking on Helena while Rachel Feinstein, not wearing a stitch of Marc, admired the proof sized prints in the entry way.

Looked like a fashion party, sounded like a fashion party - can you spot the recession friendly change?

First Look: Yigal Azrouel

YIGAL AZROUEL.jpgYigal Azrouel showed his Spring 09 collection at the Eyebeam in Chelsea - it’s the same place he showed last year, and the same place Alexander Wang loves to show - and we decided it’s our new favorite venue.

However, the airy, concrete-floored, brick-walled space contradicted the pastiche collection.

Yigal showed a few signature pieces including baby soft leather jackets and the thinnest jersey we’ve ever seen layered under sheer chiffon dresses - but otherwise, we kept whispering, “Stella!” or “Lanvin!” or “Matthew Williamson!” It wasn’t that we didn’t like it, it was just that we felt we’d seen most of it before.

Those bathing suits though, we might not know who can actually wear them, but they’re amazing.

Pre-show highlights included Kelly Cutrone, in sunglasses, getting snapped by the photographers a la celebrity, Nina Garcia shuffling to her front row seat and Cory Kennedy rocking flannel like it was 1994.

Post-show highlights included Yigal’s wave, because, well, he’s super cute. But you knew that already.

ps. For those of you who might have wondered, the gift bags did, in fact, include a few boxes each of those Yigal Azrouel condoms. And now you kow.

Whitney: Still an Intern?

Whitney Port Smiling.jpgToday’s WWD has a full-on story about Whitney Port’s clothing line, Eve & A.

But we weren’t interested in her clothes as much as we were interested in her title at People’s Revolution.

The story states that she is officially an intern for Kelly Cutrone.

Intern?

We’re pretty sure she’s supposed to be an actual employee on the show, some sort of assistant, something, especially since she had a supposedly paid position at Teen Vogue before she moved over to PR.

Is even Whitney’s position made up for the show? We can’t imagine one of the busiest PR companies putting up with cameras and crew just to have an extra person cataloguing clothes as “work.” We understood with Teen Vogue - it was a fake set in their LA offices, after all.

But a fake job in a real place? Really?

Quote of the Day

“She didn’t really have the sense of how to do things: she wanted stuff to fall on top of her and into her lap…I don’t know how she’ll do, I mean, I wouldn’t hire her, but she could grow.” - Kelly Cutrone, on Lauren Conrad’s performance on The Hills, to Faran when she was at The Daily, in May 2006.

Ksubi, Sex, Fashion

Ksubi 1.jpgWhen we saw Ali Hilfiger whip out a pair of thick, black nerd glasses at the Form show last Saturday, we thought “Oh, interesting choice.”

We believed they were the real deal since she put them on only after the lights dimmed and the first model stepped on the runway.

But then we saw her walk in with them at Chris Benz, and now Jeremy’s snapped them on her face once again at the Ksubi and Sex + Fashion party.

So what do you think - visual aid or hipster accoutrement?
