First Look: Kid Robot Handbags

kid robot1.jpgTopShop isn’t the only new development in Soho this year:

Kid Robot will also be launching their latest range of handbags from their Spring Street store.

We’ve got a sneak peek at the collection, and here’s what it looks like:

More colors than Willy Wonka’s candy factory, with familiar Kid Robot cartoons and toys emblazoned on all the carriers.

For the most part (okay, the entire part) these guys look more like bags you’d want to haul to the gym than to work or a party, but because of their crazy prints, they’d also be ideal for airplanes, when spotting your checked luggage can shave airport travel time.

Also:

They remind us a lot of the Tokidoki for LeSportsac line of ‘05, but that’s to be expected, right?

Explain

Do The Hop

Do The Hop.jpgHas everyone in fashion become obsessed with bunnies?

First, Kidrobot had designers like Heatherette and Alexander McQueen put their touches on their Dunny, at center above, the bunny-like action figure.

Then, Kym Canter at J. Mendel had everyone on the fashion planet pose with a stuffed model named Star Von Bunny, at right, ala the gnome in Amelie. Star has her own book deal.

Now, Beth Buccini and Sarah Easley of Kirna Zabête have created their own bunny, Miss KZ, who will be sold in stores and whom we can all catch up with on her very own MySpace page. Miss KZ will also have her own Fashion Week blog.

We’ve always been fans of the cute, fluffy hoppers (we even have a real one at home!) - but where did this bunny mania come from? Can anyone explain?

Kid Robot Launches Swimsuits

Louise.jpg Those wishing they could dress more like an anime character might soon get some encouragement:

Kid Robot is launching a new line of swim wear to be available next year.

The suits follow Kid Robot’s swift-selling line of printed hoodies, which are so popular they dot the Soho streets like pink streaks on a Pollock painting. They’ve also been severely knocked off by H&M and Forever 21, though their patterns are less dynamic.

The swim wear will be available in the Kid Robot store, and we’ll post photos of it as soon as we have it.

Meanwhile, just imagine some trippy cartoon prints and a pool…
