Mid-Day Snack

chuckandblair7-10.jpgBasshole: We didn’t get to Chuck in person yesterday, but man do we love that pocket square. {Just Jared}

Friend Rate: The girls walked for only 50 euros at Lacroix, as opposed to their normal 1300 or more fee. Well played, ladies. {Imaginary Socialite}

Hackers, Part Deux: This whole Ali Wise situation just gets weirder and weirder. Thank god Chris and Jessica over at Daily Intel are all over it. {Daily Intel}

Lighten Your Load: Those annoyingly large September issues are going to be about 1/3 less large this year. It’s not a good sign, but it is incredibly more convenient for our arms. {WWD}

Sale Round Up!

rag and bone sample sale.jpgWe hope you can take an extra long lunch break today.

Start at the bottom on Walker Street for Proenza Schouler Fall 08 samples starting at $85. From there, swing by the Temperley sale on Broome and grab this season’s merchandise for 60% below retail. Don’t forget to make a pit stop at the Ksubi store where even their latest shipment is 40% off.

Then you can hop in a cab to the West Village and grab a handful of severely marked down Rag & Bone for both you and any deserving guy in your life, or the other way around if you’re a boy reading this. Maybe pop your head into Scoop - since they’ve marked down their sale racks - on your way to the Lutz & Patmos sample sale where you’ll snag cashmere for 80% off.

Jump on the subway and head uptown because Bergdorf Goodman just marked their designer collections down 75% in store.

By the end you might have one of everything for the retail price of a single Lutz sweater.

Or you might just be exhausted.

Ksubi + Cobrasnake Again, Mates

lead cobrasnake picture.jpgJust like with the Cory Kennedy/Paris Hilton tee from earlier this year, Cobrasnake and Ksubi are teaming up once again, this time for an exhibition of Mark Hunter’s “social photography” (press release’s words, not ours), in Ksubi’s Australian stores.

The exhibit includes 200 signed photos lovingly curated from Mark’s hard drive, all of “young girls” (press release’s words, not ours) once featured on Cobrasnake, shot in London, Paris, New York, Tokyo, LA and Sydney.

If you want to catch the exhibit, titled “Too Young” (press release’s words, not Girls Gone Wild’s), stop by the Bondi Beach Ksubi store in Sydney at 6pm, or at the Armadale store in Melbourne on the 28th (full details after the jump).

Mark himself will be on hand, signing limited-edition tees and prints available for purchase, which, unbelievably, people will actually buy (ok, our words).

Jeremy Scott for Ksubi. Take 5.

jeremys ksubi sunglasses.jpgThink pink and hearts. Now picture Ksubi jeans with a Jeremy Scott twist.

Whoa, right?

It’s Scott’s fifth collaboration for the Olsen-beloved Australian label, and there are enough skinny jeans and bustiers to dress the length of Bedford Avenue.

In fact, it looks suspiciously like Chloe Sevigny’s first Opening Ceremony collection but Scott has sunglasses, sunglasses we really want - especially the baby pink ones with tiny black hearts peppered across the frames.

The collection debuted with his runway show in September, but we’re sure you want close-ups. Scott clarifies, “The collection is inspired by the French Revolution and is parallel to today’s social, economic and political climate, hence I titled the show ‘Let Them Eat Gas!’”

Um, ok, sure. That’s totally the vibe we got, too.

Streetwalker: Anna Get Your Gun

ksubi streetwalker.jpgAnna, 24 Designer for Ksubi Denim

Got Her: About to hop on her bike and ride down West Broadway.

Stalked Her: Because her overalls, wayfarers, and little black bike were an adorable combination. Also, we had to catch her before she rode away!

Shot Her: Because her overalls were a modern take on an old classic that most would condemn to the farm - and who doesn’t love a girl on a bike?

She Says: “I love my overalls. They’re so comfy!”

We Say: Cute + comfy + bike = a new summer favorite.

Ksubi Goes Google

ksubiwebsite1.jpgWhen we hear about Ksubi, (formerly Tsubi), jeans, we remember Mary-Kate Olsen declaring them to be her favorites - they fit her so perfectly she never needed them tailored.

Which is probably why we’ve never tried them on.

But they’ve managed to maintain their cool-kid, skinny hipster favored rep throughout, and probably in part due to pranks like releasing rats on the runway and premiering their new shades on certain, ahem, parts, of male models.

Their latest ploy for attention might seem mild by comparison; they’ve re-designed their website to look like everyone’s favorite search engine. But it might not be the smartest move for a brand that’s already been sued for copyright infringement once, (hence the name change).

All the details, from the fonts and the ads, to the page numbers and the colors, are identical to Google’s.

The only difference is, when you search for Mary-Kate, nothing comes up.

Spotted: Carine and Julia at Ksubi!

Julia and Carine Are skinny jeans going away?

Absolutely not, and here’s the proof:

We just spotted French Vogue goddess Carine Roitfeld and her lovely daughter Julia shopping at the Ksubi store in Soho.

There are many things beloved by Ksubi fans, including their scandalous fluorescent miniskirts, their outrageous sunglasses, and their new “secret” bar in a basement.

But the trademark Ksubi thing that tops them all is jeans so vacuum sealed that - much like those classic Balenciaga leggings - you’ve got to oil yourself in and out of them.

Which we’re happy to do for another few seasons, as long as we can have a big shaggy Chris Benz coat on top of them.

Fashion Week

Ksubi, Sex, Fashion

Ksubi 1.jpgWhen we saw Ali Hilfiger whip out a pair of thick, black nerd glasses at the Form show last Saturday, we thought “Oh, interesting choice.”

We believed they were the real deal since she put them on only after the lights dimmed and the first model stepped on the runway.

But then we saw her walk in with them at Chris Benz, and now Jeremy’s snapped them on her face once again at the Ksubi and Sex + Fashion party.

So what do you think - visual aid or hipster accoutrement?
