Theo Richards Switches It Up

theodora richards to wilhelmina.jpgTheodora Richards has left IMG to join her sister Alexandra on Wilhelmina’s roster.

IMG plays home to all the rock star kids: Lou Doillon, Julia Roitfeld, Liv Tyler, Elettra Rossellini, Daisy Lowe (yes, we use the term rock star liberally), but the gorgeous blond Richards sisters, daughters of Rolling Stone Keith and model Patti Hansen, are now holding down the Wilhelmina fort.

Theo’s starred in ads for Tommy Hilfiger and Roberto Cavalli for H&M, but maybe, with a package deal for the two sisters, they’ll get to join their dad in the realm of luxury advertising.

A family portrait for LV? Sounds do-able.

A Meditation on Ads

WHICH ONE MAKES YOU WANT SOME FERRAGAMO.jpgI actually sat down and read GQ cover to cover this weekend.

1) Because James Franco is on the cover and you know how I feel about who’s on the cover and

2) Because I actually love their editorial content.

But on my way there I started noticing the ads.

Something was off. For example, in the four page Gap campaign, only men are featured. I flipped from Hugh Dancy to Joseph Feinnes without an appearance from Clemence, Julia, or even Liv. It’d be one thing if Gap only put their girls in women’s magazines, but we get boys and girls - so why do the boys only get boys? Oh, and the Sartorialist is definitively missing, (but so is Sean Avery).

Then we have the Tod’s ads. Gwyneth Paltrow is their super hyped, no doubt super expensive face of Fall 08. But while one of the men in the GQ ad version bears a slight resemblance to Chris Martin if you squint and can imagine Chris Martin draping a sweater over his shoulders, Gwyneth is most certainly not present. Though we know from the background that both she and the men are sitting on the same yacht.

Thirdly, and perhaps best, is the Salvatore Ferragamo ad spread. In it, they’ve used the same Claudia Schiffer and the same background from the ads in women’s magazines, but remember that guy who wore tights? Well, in GQ, he gets to wear a proper suit. And Claudia doesn’t look pleased. But there are ballerinas in tutus running around him which adds the ballet element in a different way.

So the the only woman who can sell a product to men is Claudia Schiffer? And definitely not Gwyneth Paltrow? But you can use any hot guy to sell something to women?

Or maybe I should just stop memorizing magazines.

Julia Falls Into the Gap

julia for gap.jpgThose much anticipated Gap ads have finally debuted. Well, sort of.

Division Street just posted four: Chanel Iman, Georgina Chapman, Lily Donaldson and, unexpectedly, Julia Restoin-Roitfled.

We love models, duh, but Carine’s daughter wins this one.

Meanwhile, we’re still waiting for the ads featuring Leigh, Liv Tyler, Hugh Dancy, Ryan McGinley and hopefully, despite what we’ve heard, Scott Schuman.

We love that Gap ads actually make us want to go to the Gap. Do you think Carine shops there?

Gemma Is More Accomplished Than Liv Tyler

Gemma WardAs anyone with a MySpace account can tell you, previews for The Strangers are running everywhere.

The movie that stars Liv Tyler and features Gemma Ward in her first American movie has also launched their new website, and it’s sort of a kick:

Besides playing creepy noises every time you move your mouse, the site also features a biography section where you can read about the cast.

Liv Tyler’s bio includes her fifteen years of film roles, and takes about a minute to read.

Meanwhile, Gemma Ward’s bio is a monolithic scroll that lists every single designer she’s ever modeled for.

Ever.

Clearly, the marketing department at Universal is chock-stocked with Style.com refugees, because, wow.

Gemma and SJP Throw Down

As we all know so well by now, SATC: The Movie is finally coming to a theater near every person in America on May 30th.

Naturally, we want to go, but we also remember what it was like trying to find tickets on the day The Devil Wears Prada came out - annoying as hell.

So here’s a fact: there’s another fun flick coming out that day, The Strangers, featuring Gemma Ward as a crazy killer girl.

According to IMDB, her character’s name is Dollface (we couldn’t think of a better name, really), and here’s a little clip of her freaking Liv Tyler out with a knife game.

In other semi-fashion related movie news, Fashionista highly suggests checking out Priceless with Chanel’s newest face, Audrey Tautou, playing at Cinema Village on 12th Street. It’s kind of like a modern day How to Marry a Millionaire, except French and with better clothes. But the best part of the movie experience was when the new Louis Vuitton travel commercial played before the film - the entire packed theater burst into laughter at its end.

Gemma Tries to Murder Liv

The Strangers Exclusive Clip
Serena Van Der Woodsen isn’t the only dangerous beauty out there:

Gemma Ward’s new movie The Strangers might actually come out soon, and MySpace is running this clip of her chasing Liv Tyler through a creepy locked house, wearing a creepy white mask, and carrying a big knife.

The clip reveals nothing about the movie except that Liv Tyler has excellent hair and a powerful scream, but oh well -

If the hype keeps up, maybe next season’s Costume Ball can be all about thrillers and macabre, and then Alexander McQueen can have a field day and Gemma + Liv can host.
