While people keep asking Lorenzo Martone about his impending nuptials with Marc, we were more interested to read about his new business venture in this morning’s NY Post.
Martone and former Elite marketing director Ryan Brown have created ARC NY, a public relations agency just for models. They told Page Six: “Our goal is to build equity around the girl’s personality.” That means helping them branch out into other projects like acting, singing and product lines.
So far they’ve lined up Lydia Hearst, Alessandra Ambrosio, Fernanda Motta, Julie Henderson, and Jessica White.
We think this sounds like a pretty cool idea. Because it’s always painful to watch a celebrity (model, actress, or singer) stumble into new genres, seemingly without a plan or any guidance whatsoever. And between Lorenzo and Ryan, they’ve got the media savvy backgrounds and serious connections to make some really interest projects happen.
Though we can’t lie and say the possible “singing” careers don’t frighten us just a wee bit. But we’re gonna go ahead and trust in Lorenzo’s good taste on these matters.

Valley of the Dolls: Ruth LaFerla profiled Mattel’s new Fashionista Barbies (no relation), this weekend. The thought of “aspiring primary-school Rachel Zoes” is surprisingly disturbing. Its makers say the dolls are suited to this economy and promises they won’t be driving limos anytime soon. {NYTimes}

On the Job: Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, former director of special events for Vogue, just landed a new position. She’ll be the director of Fashion Week for Lincoln Center when it moves in September 2010, “consulting on internal and external coordination between Lincoln Center and the fashion industry.” But the question is, who can she steal back from MAC? {FWD}
Still Haunting: Alison Sarofim’s Halloween party brings out fashion’s best and brightest. This year’s theme was downtown New York circa 1980’s; Marc and Lorenzo were dutifully costumed while Valentino opted for a spot-on Valentino look. {VanityFair}

I got to Marc at 7:45 - the earliest I’ve ever been in my entire life.
There was a line for ticket holders and a line for not ticket holders. I’m not sure what happened to the latter because my ticket was turned over, flipped upside down and the beefy security guard even read the serial number. Once inside the boiling hot white box I was told a) the girls were painted white and b) Lady Gaga was definitely coming.
I stationed myself behind Katie Grand, Juergen Teller and Jefferson Hack (down the row from Rachel Zoe and across from Anna and Bee) and soaked in all their British (and I guess German) brilliance. At 8:03, Perez Hilton was still by his lonesome and the two conspicuously empty seats were filled with Madonna and Jesus. PR’s panicked, “Lorenzo swore he’d take care of it!”
Iris Strubegger opened in a charcoal coat belted over something cream with a very white face and very Geisha shoes. Ruffles followed on suits, dresses, skirts, bags, scrunchies, they came in tulle and wool and cotton and anything else. Karlie wore a military coat, Stam rocked a black cut-out jacket and Vlada had her bra on the outside. The show ended with a series of beautiful dresses, hand beaded white over nude tulle and cream ruffles edged in black all over slightly loose nude mesh leggings.
Lorenzo and Gaga did show up about twenty looks in. Photographers went nuts, do we photograph the clothes? Madonna? Gaga?
We were going to put this in mid-day snack, but I was so afraid you wouldn’t click and would miss out on watching Lorenzo speak for almost two minutes.
Marc’s dreamy fiancé (Maybe husband? We can’t keep track.) spent the day at Nylon’s studio last week directing a shoot for Brazilian shoe brand Melissa, the plastic cobbler who’s collaborated with Vivienne Westwood and Zaha Hadid in the past.
The fall shoes are cute and Lorenzo says they even smell delicious.

We’ve been pretty open with the fact that our favorite couple in fashion at the moment is more certainly Lorenzo and Marc. Marc, of course, has always held a special place in our hearts but Lorenzo is quickly making a move for that number one spot. We’re still swooning over his adorable shorts at the Governor’s Island polo match.
And today’s WWD made our hearts swell just a little bit bigger. Lorenzo co-hosted a party with Interview on Sunday in honor of gay pride and marriage rights equality with a silent auction that benefited amfAR. Photographers like Jack Pierson and Steven Klein donated their work.
We’re huge fans of theirs but we really wish we could have gotten our hands on Lorenzo’s stylized print of a shot he snapped of the Barack and Michelle Obama on the television on election night. “The picture is called ‘Election Love’ and is about the intimacy between Barack and Michelle, even in public,” he said of his creation.

After the lovely afternoon we spent on Governors Island on Saturday, we’ve officially become polo fans. And also please sign us up for the Nacho Figueras fan club. We knew his face was dreamy from all those Ralph Lauren fragrance ads. Let us just say the real thing is unbelievably better.
You know how excited we were to don our hats and watch Prince Harry play.
And by the way, thanks to all of you who recommended The Hat Shop on Thompson. How I’ve missed popping in there over the years is beyond me but I found the perfect Chapeau Chateau fedora that worked for the match and will now become one of my summer staples.
The people watching at the Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Classic was a dream. The best dressed of the afternoon was certainly Chloe Sevigny in Chloe. And the cutest couple: Marc and Lorenzo, who was wearing checked shorts. (Madonna, Jesus Luz, and little David Banda joined them in the VIP tent later on. Oh, to have been at that table!)
I’m vacationing on Fernando de Noronha in Brazil, and I was just hanging out on the beach yesterday - and what did I see?!
None other than Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone taking after-ceremony pictures with a small group of what looked like just relatives and close friends!
I took a few shots with my cell phone, but sorry, they’re kind of blurry - didn’t want to get caught creeping around!
