This morning, my friend asked me how the clothes were at Rock & Republic but I was like, What clothes? Yes, it was technically a fashion show except we were too busy staring at the crowd to really notice.
As promised, Chace was front row, alongside Jessica Szohr (Vanessa), who is probably the only Gossip Girl cast member to look and dress differently from her character in real life. And then to our delightful surprise, Miss Ashley Olsen plunked down next to Jessica and the two chatted and giggled throughout the show. Could this possibly indicate a guess appearance for the twin? We could totally see Ashley Olsen playing Ashley Olsen, maybe at a party at the Gansevoort and air-kissing Serena to everyone else’s secret jealousy.
Only after we finally took our seats did we notice Margherita Missoni sitting directly across from us and in second row; Nina Garcia and then, we’re not sure why, John Legend and his girlfriend. Also inexplicably, but predictably, were Alex and Simon from Real Housewives of Manhattan.
We did however look up long enough to see that all the looks coming down the runway were exclusively black and white, and exclusively T-I-G-H-T. And since when are leggings and a tube top considered fashion? The boys, however, did walk out in some pretty awesome suits that we hope Chace noted. We’re less sure about the acid washed black and white jeans - but hey, who knows what’ll happen in the life of Nate.

Spotted:
Margherita and Theresa Missoni, smoking in a black town car on the corner of 2nd Street and Avenue B.
They were being shown around a property by Jared Seligman, the BFF of Jessica Stam and broker for most models in Manhattan, and they looked very interested.
Could the Missoni babes be moving to the Village, even after Margherita claimed she was done with New York?
If so, we’ll know soon enough - that condo is three minutes away from Faran’s apartment.
Rebecca from Stylehive just clued us into the best collaboration we’ve heard of since Proenza for Target -
Margherita Missoni and Damon Dash are working together to create a new line of sneakers for ProKeds to benefit Orphanaid Africa.
The line will consist of six pairs of sneaks covered in collages of Africa-inspired prints (we’d kill for shoes with a tiger on them), and will be sold at Barneys and Colette.
No word yet on a launch-date, but we’re willing to bet the event will merit an in-store visit from Damon himself - but will Margherita fly back from her new home in Paris for an appearance on Fifth?
Yesterday, The Daily reported that Dakota Johnson is IMG Models’ newest addition.
The 18-year old is tall, blonde, thin, and adorable, but there’s one thing separating her from other teenage models:
Her mom is Melanie Griffith.
Just in case you forget, the screen icon is featured as part of Dakota’s portfolio package on IMG’s website, though we don’t think you can book them as a package deal unless you have a really good day rate.
We hope this trend continues among other model daughters of famous moms. For instance, in their stable of thoroughbred girls, IMG has Theodora Richards (daughter of Keith Richards and Patti Hansen), Margherita Missoni (daughter of Angela Missoni), Daisy Lowe (daughter of Pearl Lowe and Gavin Rossdale; stepdaughter of Gwen Stefani), and Julia Restoin Roitfeld (la fille de Carine).
Wouldn’t it be cool if all those moms got onto their daughter’s comp cards, too?

Last night’s amFAR gala honored Carine Roitfeld and Julian Schnabel.
Our photographer extraordinaire, Jeremy Kost, was there to watch the people…
Smile!

Angela Missoni certainly knows how to put her family’s assets to work, especially daughter and muse of the family business, Margherita.
Last year, the fashion stripes heiress starred as the face of Missoni Eau de Parfum, the house’s first try at fragrance, and designed the little brown clutch that debuted along with it.
Now Margherita tells us she’s designing her own jewelry line, with pit stops in Paris and Italy to get her product exactly right.
We’re betting it’s going to look a lot like the charm necklace/perfume dispenser she recently designed for the new La Bella Vita collection, called the Margherita “It” Item, pictured at left.
We’re sure the collection will be cute in a gold-chains-and-baubles kind of way, but we wonder if the gold-blocked “M” charms that can be expected will fare well with high-end shoppers.
