While flowing locks have long been considered the feminine ideal, one of today’s hottest models, Agyness Deyn, is a standout because of her short pixie cut. Milagros Schmoll and Anja Rubik also booked more work when they chopped their hair, and Linda Evangelista had the most famous crop of all in the ’90s.

Fashion people aren’t the only ones who love short hair:

We have many guy friends who crush on crops instead of glamazons. They think short haircuts can emphasize a girl’s beautiful face.

But we also have a guy pal who can’t get over his girlfriend’s new haircut — a Winona Ryder pixie — because he says it “makes her look like a little boy.”

We see how such a dramatic haircut can arouse awkward feelings in a guy — and limit the ability to run his hands through her hair.

However, we also salute former and current gamines such as Jean Seberg, Winona, and also Rihanna for their confidence and bravado in pulling off a look that makes most women feel naked.

Still, we have to wonder about the Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams split. Was the haircut part of the rift?
