They’re embarking on a world tour for the next few months, stopping in cities including Berlin, Miami, Paris, London, Beijing and Tokoyo. They’ll be performing in New York at Webster Hall July 30th, along with Theophilus London, The Roots, Passion Pit and others. Tickets are free, but limited.

That’ll be July 25th and 26th at Lexington at 60th Street, July 27th and 28th at 5th Avenue and 54th Street, and July 29th and 30th at Union Square at 14th Street. Giveaways start for all days at 5pm, and continue until supplies last.
We all remember the pink hair, heavy make-up and lots and lots of black (this princess was, after all, the daughter of the Prince of Darkness).
I was in middle school (ed note from Abby: I just fell off my chair while reading that phrase from my lovely intern. Holy crap am I old!) when she covered Madonna’s Papa Don’t Preach and am not ashamed to say that I danced to it in friends’ rooms and at school dances.
We liked that she wasn’t some twiglet and embraced her and all her many quirks, both style and otherwise.
Okay, Ciara isn’t exactly a new singer on the scene, but people are starting to talk about her real potential to become a new musical style icon, à la Beyoncé, Lady Gaga or Rihanna. We’re not so sure.
We liked the “Love Sex Magic” video, but not totally because of its style. Well, we dug the zebra print jumper, and the white leotards were classy, and the girl is seriously bend-y in serious heels. But mostly it was insanely sexy and our heart stopped a little when she licked Justin Timberlake’s ear. But we were excited to see what she was bringing to the table this time around.
So I’ll be the first to admit that while I secretly love Britney, her fashion choices have always been a little… how do you say… off (head to toe denim anyone?)
But I just saw that her “If You Seek Amy” video came out and she’s wearing the Christian Louboutin for Phillip Lim S/S 09 heels! Yes, the amazing ruffled ones in that bright red/orange color. They show up at exactly 1:00 minutes into the video. Brit must have had a good stylist, or at least someone who knows incredible footwear when they see it.
We have no idea why, we have no idea how, but here’s what we do know:
50 Cent is starting his own skin care line.
Yahoo’s reporting that he’s putting the finishing touches on a grooming line for men, for which we sincerely hope he’s created a product called In Da Scrub.
Of course, Yahoo casually mentions that their original source is the Daily Mirror, so it may take a couple days for 50 to appear at a press conference where he denies this incredibly silly sounding rumor and announces his inevitable denim line instead.
In the meantime, can anyone else think of good product names for 50’s line? Bonus points if you can work in Magic Stick.
Fact: Tommy Hilfiger’s brother, Andy, used to be in a band with former Ramones drummer, Marky Ramone.
Fact: Hence, Tommy and Marky have known each other for 23 years.
New Fact? Marky and Tommy are launching a clothing line together, Rock Scene, which will consist of pants, leather jackets, and tees with images from the old CBGB club on them.
Not only does this explain Marky’s seemingly inexplicable gig as DJ at a Tommy party a year ago, but it kind of makes all that moaning and groaning over John Varvatos taking up the old CBGB space - where the Ramones played their first shows at the beginning of their legendary career - with his store seem a little overdone (or warranted? Depends on who you’re talking to…)
We somehow missed this yesterday, so we’re assuming you did, too:
Is Christina Aguilera designing a line for Topshop?
This is the rumor coming from the Daily Mirror, so take as much salt as needed with this one.
Though we have to say, it would at least be fun to watch unfold: Xtina ripped jeans, ala Margiela? Or old-timey halter dresses to wear to the Etta James/Beyonce movie?
It’s sad that for the sake of non-recession fodder, we kind of hope this one’s true…
The day before Thanksgiving, they predicted that Beyonce, who was jiggling on the Today Show that morning, would announce that Thierry Mugler would be designing the costumes for her upcoming Sasha Fierce tour.
But even though we paced between rooms to try to catch the announcement for over two hours, which never happened, we’re not mad, because it turns out they were totally right.
Beyonce, who’s lately taken to performing in Pugh, will rock a 58-piece rotation of Mugler designs, surrounded by back-up dancers, singers and band members all also donning Mugler - he’ll even serve as the Creative Director, which means he picks the lighting, consults on choreography, and directs several segments (god we hope it looks like Too Funky), including one called “Ave Maria.”
Which kind of makes Mugler the new Madonna/Gaultier. Or, we need more latte.
PS Is it possible that MTV is not in on some kind of documentary for this? Because True Life: Thierry Goes Fierce would be the perfect Sunday lunch.
Puma turns 60 this year, and they’re making sure nobody forgets.
In addition to releasing a celebratory line of shoes, they’re hosting a string of events nationwide (parties, shopping events, etc), including concerts with Chester French, Lady Gaga, The Bravery and more (full concert schedule after the jump.)
Best part? All the concerts are free and open to the public, just make sure to pick up tickets at Puma stores in participating cities starting… today!
Did you know Teen Vogue is hosting a concert weekend?
On Sunday, Theodora Richards will host the teen bible’s first ever band battle, Rock Meets Runway, for a panel of judges, including Debbie Harry. Apparently, they launched a contest to find the best new girl band a while back, and have narrowed the choices down to three groups (Snake Pliskin, Half Demon Doll and Pike) who’ll perform for the sold-out crowd at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square. The winning bands get a record deal with Wicked Cool Records, and we’re pretty sure this is just the beginning of an annual bash.
We don’t know when Teen Vogue decided to be a little Sassy, but we welcome it. As long as nobody called Pussycat anything ever wins.
When I was in high school, the unofficial uniform for a lot of my classmates consisted of Birkenstocks, ripped tan cargo pants and your dad’s most psychedelic Grateful Dead t-shirt possible. I was never really into the Dead as much as some of my friends, but I did always think the little bears were adorable.
So it’s with some sentimentalism that I swoon over these Converse Hi-Tops that feature the Grateful Dead skull for all passersby to see. Some people (like the lunch ladies) see that and think, “Drugs! Bad”, but all I see is second period Geometry and the shirts some seniors made with our high school name, emblazoned with the little Dead bears marching up and over the name, like it was a cliff.
On a side note, it’s too bad these didn’t come out fourteen years ago. Wouldn’t these have been so cute on Mary-Kate in The Wackness?
There’s an interesting bit stuck into one of Derek Blasberg’s posts for Style.com, especially in light of so many people wondering why Irina Lazareanu walked barely any shows this season.
After Sonia Rykiel, she said to him, “After that, I’ve retired from shows for good - I mean it!”
Derek doesn’t seem to believe her, but since it seems like Irina (who once walked a record 76 shows in one season) walked in only a few shows this time around, we think it sounds believable.
We know she’s going to front Tiffany’s soon, but that couldn’t possibly be all - maybe she’s finalizing a date for that album of hers…
The official release for Richie Rich’s album, Celebutante (yes, that’s the same name as his Hot Topic shoe line), is now out:
The electro-techno-glitter-pop (ok, we made that up, but we’re sure it’ll have an equally hip hyphenate for genre) mix drops October 22nd, to be followed by a huge club kid bash the following night at Citrine, a Flatiron club that’s so new it’s not even open yet.
Look out for a red carpet that’s sure to host Lydia, Tinsley and every other well-glittered socialite in Richie’s care, not to mention everyone that wishes Heatherette would get back together just for the shows.
I was watching FNMTV last week, and LL Cool J debuted his new video. I of course muted it because he hasn’t made good music for a while now, but I kept watching because he does have nice arms that I enjoy looking at.
Anyway, whilst watching this muted video I was suprised to see who i’m pretty sure is none other than Nicole Fiscella who is better known as Isabel Coates on Gossip Girl. I’m not absolutely sure its her but its looks EXACTLY like her.
Madonna has been one of fashion’s most fickle friends; all too ready
to call Jean Paul Gaultier or Olivier Theyskens when she feels like donning couture, but more often than not trudging around in track suits and baseball caps.
But in her new-ish “Give it 2 me” video, fashion seems once more to be on her mind. Madge dances around and goes on and on and on in front of a chevron pattern suspiciously like the one that covers Goyard’s signature luggage. Ok, it’s upside down, but come on.
All the while, Pharrell is playing with his much blogged about purple crocodile man-Birkin.
But given his allegiance to Vuitton, we’re surprised they don’t writhe around in front of a monogram canvas.
That rumor we spread about Mark Fast doing a line for Topshop? It's true. And it's in last week's Sunday Telegraph magazine which means it was true before we even said anything and we've had it in our lap since... Read More
Meet Blue Logan, if you haven't already. A couple of years ago a friend dragged the soft-spoken Brit to a show at London Fashion Week, Aquascutum he thinks, and he started to draw the models as they walked down the... Read More
