Ann Sofie Back Says, "Boo!"

asb aw09 3.JPG
Someone who’d caught a preview of the Ann Sofie Back show told me, “It’s really scary.”

So when the lights went dark after Peter Jensen (the two Topshop sponsored designers showed back to back), I was ready.

Cue Psycho soundtrack, zombie make-up, a sweatshirt printed with “Boo!” and Bride of Frankenstein hair - they even made the models walk like Karlie - but the clothes themselves weren’t so scary.

They were black, sure, and ripped, but Urban Outfitters is stocked with ripped clothes so any scare factor is long gone. There were dream catchers woven onto dresses and feathers strung from skirts and sweaters over lacy leggings. The models wore oversized blazers and boyfriend jeans, all those ripped, too, and witchy boots decorated with feathers and bells.

Honestly, we spent most of the show wondering just what Lydia Hearst and Kanye West could possibly be talking about.

Get Your Freak On, Giles Deacon!

giles.jpg Someone left a comment on Cathy Horyn’s blog today that they were “desperately waiting” for the Giles show. I’m a Gareth Pugh girl myself, but I’ll admit that I’m anxiously pacing for Mr. Deacon’s clothes as well.

If you’re equally hungry for your next London fashion fix, I have some very nice news: Swarovski is streaming some of London’s shows live on the internet, and today’s Giles spectacle just happens to be one of them.

Tune into the action by clicking here - the show is set to start at 7 pm in London, which means you should sit in front of your computer around 2 pm if you’re in New York; 1 pm in Texas; and 11 am in California (apologies, Los Angeles, but perhaps you can watch it over brunch).

From what I hear, though, the Americans won’t be the only ones who have to tune in through their iBooks - a last minute venue change for Giles means there are less seats at his show, and some people are actually getting uninvited to his presentation. Yikes.

And one more thing: there’s something of a holy Trinity happening today in London: Gareth shows at 5 pm, Nathan Jenden (alias Diane Von Furstenberg’s right hand man) goes next, and then Giles. That’s like folding Proenza, Marc, and Zac into a three hour span. Really, I can’t wait.
