Paco’s Paris Party

pacorabanne.jpgHow about this? Paco Rabanne is hosting a party for fashion week.

Yes, Paco Rabanne.

Did your eyebrows raise? Because mine sure did when I got the invite. I was a bit perplexed since I wasn’t sure what they have been up to recently. Mostly I just think of men’s cologne.

The invitation’s tiny insert was what made me think it might actually be a big deal. The party is going to be DJ’d by none other than Lady Bunny, one of my favorite fashion week partners in crime, but get this—VV Brown is also going to perform.

The invite doesn’t say at all what it’s for, but we shall find out when we arrive and of course report back.

Fashion Is Fun

A Fashion Auction Like No Other

veruschka yves saint laurent.jpgMark Haddaway and Katy Rodriguez, the brilliant duo behind Resurrection, have been working on a project.

We’re so jealous, we might cry.

They’ve assembed what The Telegraph calls, “the most important [collection] to come up at auction.”

It includes original 1970’s Vivienne Westwood from both the legendary Seditionaries and Pirates collections. There are Paco Rabanne dresses and leather jackets from the 60’s and an entire, unworn look from Yves Saint Laurent’s 1968 Safari collection. There’s a 1986 zippered, hooded, green mini Alai that was in fact worn, but by Grace Jones, a python skin Ossie Clark coat and a few slinky Versace dresses circa Gianni.

Are you emptying your piggy bank yet?

If not, there’s also a group of dresses from Marc’s 1992 Grunge collection for Perry Ellis.

We’re kind of speechless. So in the words of Rachel Zoe, (since she’s probably the only one who can justify shelling out thousands for these pieces right now), “I die. D-I-E.”

Let Them Eat Catwalk

Elie Saab dessert.jpgIf you happen to find yourself in Paris this summer, you might want to stop in at the Café de la Paix to try out their newest dessert, Catwalk.

The pastry, designed entirely by Elie Saab as part of the café’s Designer Dessert series, is made of five unbelievable sounding layers (although we think it might be a little too cute to eat):

From top to bottom: a thin slab of dark chocolate, a red fruit cream, a caramelized puff pastry, a milk chocolate Chantilly and a soft chocolate biscuit.

Our only criticism: The blueberry is a cute touch, but even better? A tiny little Naomi figure posing at the end. Maybe the waiters could even come out singing RuPaul’s Runway?

Past Dessert Designers for the café include Paco Rabanne and Philippe Starck, and the Elie Saab is available only from May 15 to September 15.

Now whether you’d fit into an Elie Saab gown after the Elie Saab dessert is another story. (Oh, you know we had to take it!)
