Across the pond today, Angels The Costumiers are putting up a bevy of costumes from films and television shows at the Bonhams Knightsbridge auction house in London.
The goods include a bullfighter style jacket Johnny Depp wore in The Man Who Cried, and a jumpsuit from the Bond film Moonraker.
How we’d feel about owning something that Johnny Depp once wore aside, we’re now making mental lists of which movie’s costumes we would bid on.
For me, it would definitely be Audrey Hepburn’s dresses and dress suits from Charade, crazy eighties getups from Parker Posey in Party Girl and Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan, and in my ultimate fantasy, Kirsten Dunst’s queenly gowns from Marie Antoinette. Britt’s with me on Marie Antoinette and would also kill for Julianne Moore’s wardrobe from Boogie Nights and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s from Secretary. Abby loves the clothes from either version of The Thomas Crown Affair worn fabulously by Faye Dunaway and Rene Russo, along with some of Gwyneth’s pieces from The Talented Mr. Ripley.
Whose wardrobe is on your wish list?

If we’re going to be honest, we’re going to tell you that the best part about a Cynthia Rowley show is the front row.
She lives in the West Village, plays in the West Village and has a store in the West Village which means she’s bffs with people like Parker Posey and Philip Seymour Hoffman who are infinitely more interesting than her clothes.
So we’re not pissed that we didn’t get to see the collection, we’re pissed that we stood outside amongst the protesters at left for forty minutes only to be told the venue was at capacity.
We asked one PR girl just who planned the show and she said LaForce+Stevens; the next said it was handled in house and the next offered me a perch in the doorway from which to see nothing but the back of the models.
So it’s just too bad these economy-friendly, “intimate” shows aren’t designed for the same number of people as before. Otherwise, you’d be reading about the show.
Our favorite Monday rumor:
That actress Parker Posey is in strong consideration to be the new face of Marc by Marc Jacobs.
If true, it means Ms. Posey is following the footsteps of M.I.A, Lily Cole, Jessica Stam, and Querelle - remember her? - as the bleached-out poster girl for our favorite brand, as captured by Juergen Teller.
If false - well, let’s face it, it probably is false, because we never get rumors right over here.
Do we? ;)
Gawker will be relieved to know that the rumor makes no mention of her apparently Satanic puppy.
Meanwhile, we’re relieved to hear that despite her front-row appearance at the Marc by Marc show this February, Fergie has not been mentioned for the campaign.
