The Whole World Steps Out for Fashion

liya kebede for fashions night out.jpgFashion’s Night Out just released their prolific schedule for September 10th.

Seven hundred stores across all five boroughs will stay open until 11pm, but Anna Wintour, Michael Kors, a surprise celebrity guest and the cast of Hair will kick everything off at Macy’s six hours earlier.

At Barneys, Wool & the Gang will teach knitting while Scott Hahn & Rogan of Loomstate customize t-shirts. Zac Posen will be painting inside Bergdorf’s Fifth Avenue windows while Peter Som and Cynthia Rowley have an in-store cook-off. What are we most looking forward to (aside from the Olsens)? A fashion game hosted by Andre Leon Talley with teams led by Donna Karan, Robert Verdi and Linda Fargo.

Various contests will be held throughout the night in which one can win tickets to runway shows, haircuts by Sally Hershberger and Oscar Blandi, a custom Carolina Herrera wedding dress and the chance to be on set during a Demarchelier Vogue shoot. Cindy Crawford, Hugh Jackman, Stephanie Seymour, Sasha, Caroline, Chanel, Lily, The Misshapes, Taylor Momsen, Yasmin le Bon, Coco and Diddy are just a few of the people with planned appearances.

Don’t forget to shop while you’re out ogling your favorite fashion people!

Pay Less for Christian Siriano

christian siriano spring 09.jpgA puzzle:

Christian Siriano, arguably better known for structured jackets and layered ruffles than for popularizing the word “fierce” as an acceptable adjective, has just signed a deal with Payless to do a line of bags and shoes for Fall 09.

Apparently, the tired economy has gotten to his customers (and potential buyers), too, and he wants to ensure that “everyone” can get a piece of his brand.

The line debuts at Fashion Week in a couple months, but no word yet on the general design direction.

We’re not sure what platform, ruffly booties would look like, but we have a feeling we’ll be able to tell you all about it very soon.

Payless Renews Lela Rose

lela shoes.jpg Sadly, Target didn’t ask Proenza Schouler to launch another diffusion line, but there’s another high-low collaboration that’s going in for seconds:

Today Lela Rose revealed that Payless renewed her shoe contract, meaning another round of Lela’s heels and flats will be on sale at the store next Fall - and they’ll also appear on Lela’s upcoming runway.

The move is great news for anyone who likes cheap shoes - we’re especially into her gold embossed flats, which are great for clomping in the rain - but it also reminds us of all the other designers who should get a second turn with their secondary lines.

Besides Proenza Schouler, we’d kill for Stella McCartney to launch another H&M range, and if Luella Bartley could come back to Target, we would absolutely freak.

Of course, once Gareth Pugh ties the knot with TopShop, we’ll have something new to get us in a queue…
