The Internship That Keeps On Giving

rachelcomeykruppinternship.jpgA great thing about internships at fashion PR firms is that they can often lead to a second internship for one of the great designers they rep.

That’s what keeps happening over at the Krupp Group, hence their need for a new crop. Many of their alums have gone on to work for Philip Crangi, Lela Rose, Rachel Comey and Joy Gryson. Sounds like a great perk to us!

The lovely publicists are looking for folks who are dynamic, responsible and available 4-5 days a week starting now and going at least through NY Fashion Week in February.

Interested parties should go ahead and send their resumés and brief descriptions of themselves to cdionisio@kruppgroup.com, stat.

Reason To Venture Out in the Rain #2: Tacos!

philipcrangitacotuesdays.jpgAnd charity!

The industry’s famous Taco Tuesdays are back. And as always, everyone’s invited. We always love hitting up Rewind and having our fashion friends mix us up margaritas and other assorted cocktails. And while there’s no battle of the bartenders tonight, it’s sure to be a good time.

The publicists from Krupp Group are hosting with all the proceeds going to the CFDA’s Fashion Targets Breast Cancer Campaign.

You’ll be sure to spot some of their clients like Phillip Crangi and Rachel Comey…maybe they’ll even make your drink. There’ll be tons of raffle prizes and live music too.

Plus, who doesn’t love a $2 taco and a $5 marg after a depressingly dreary day? There’s no need to RSVP, just show up. Details after the jump!

Our Favorite Invites, Part I

SS10 INVITES SO FAR.jpgFashion Week invitations are flooding in and while some, like Michael Kors and Oscar de la Renta stick to their classic cards, others use their invite as a sneak of their upcoming collections.

The most orginal, so far, are a fan from Ports 1961 and a video invite from Rachel Comey.

Mulberry’s brightly colored invite means it’ll be easy to wake up on the morning of the 15th knowing there’s a room full of fantastical accessories to look forward to. And the invitation for Organic by John Patrick is actually a 1921 Cleo Throckmorton photograph, Krazy Kat Klub, recently hand painted by L. Mulero. Preen’s recycled paper invite boasts a mesh, fishnet pattern that’s awfully similar to last season’s collection and Christian Siriano’s dark mountainous image looks like a Rorschach test while Rachel Antonoff’s old fashioned, embossed invite bills her presentation as a performance hosted by Sarah Sophie Flicker at the Henry Street Playhouse.

New Merch at the Rachel Comey Sale!

rachelcomeyIMAGEforsale.jpgWe just got word that bunches of jewelry were just added to the mix at the Rachel Comey sale. The earrings are amazing. Trust.

Go, quickly because this stuff is seriously cute. There is still a lot of clothing, shoes (men’s too!), and other accessories available. And some of it is about to be marked down another 30% off the already rockin’ prices.

This is yet another one of those moments where we really miss summer Fridays. But then we wouldn’t be able to pass along the good info.

Spend away, dears! All the details after the jump.

Fashion Week

Rachel Comey

Rachel Comey 5.jpgIt was a dark and stormy night… literally, at Rachel Comey’s show Friday night. We were kept packed in the entranceway of the Salmagundi Art Club waiting for the show to start, and once inside, the stage was set for a seance.

There was the essence of Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion with a chandelier above the runway and eerie painted portraits lining the walls (we half expected to see model apparitions floating down the runway in a rehashing of McQueen’s infamous Kate Moss hologram). After a head-turning spring collection, we weren’t surprised to hear whispers of “Rachel is so orginial” and “she totally has it”, in a room full of mismatched Victorian couches and chairs reserved for editors from Nylon, V, Harper’s , and Vogue- to name a few. Spotted front and center were Vogue’s Lawren Howell and fashion front row fixture Lynn Yaeger. A definite sign that Rachel Comey is one to watch.

The clothes lived up to the hype with a mix of prints, words painted on heels, and a concoction of modern-Edwardian-school-goth chic- and hey, it worked! We can’t decide whether it’s a slight lack of originality or a designer who is just perfectly on-trend, but if you’re taking cues from Rachel Comey (which we just may be), turbans are still in, and so are jazz shoes and wooden wedges paired with socks. We shall see.

Hilarity of the evening: The program insists that the fur on the runway comes from “Baby Alpacas that have died of natural causes”… Didn’t we collectively laugh at ANTM contestant Kathleen when she echoed the same sentiment?

We say: “Animals fight each other in the jungle, right, like in the woods…?”
