Alice Temperley may be back in London, but a UK import is officially hauling over to Manhattan for Fashion Week:
We hear the adorable boys of Rodnik are actively seeking a space and sponsors for their first formal fashion show in New York.
Rodnik started in 2003 at the University of St. Andrews, and has grown into something of a British Trovata - cool party clothes for girls, crazy parties and concepts thrown in for memory.
Last season, Rodnik staged a rock concert at The Box, where it presented their frocks on models, while the designers, Phil and Rich, played guitar and screamed into the mics.
This season?
Well, anything goes… stay tuned!
Beautiful people, meet Lily Evans.
Lily Evans is Rodnik’s amazing PR director.
She is lovely, funny, cool… and currently missing her favorite pair of Charles Jourdan heels, studded at the bottom with Swarovski crystals.
She lost them when Phil and Rich picked her up onstage at the Box during the Rodnik concert and swirled her around, and left the party in a spare pair of Keds.
If you found them, please email lily@rodnik.co.uk and send them back.
Also send her your size, because surely one of those Rodnik dresses doesn’t have to go back to London…

After stints in New York and London, the Rodnik rock band has come to Paris.
They play today at the Commes des Garcons store, but unlike London’s super-exclusive concert, anyone can show up to root for the British designers
Click below for a bigger version of the flier, and dress like a groupie for maximum fun -
That means a big pair of sunglasses, really messy hair, and probably something from Sonia Rykiel’s most recent runway…

Alexandra, 24, aesthete (and writer, and stylist, and publicist…)
Got Her: At the Rodnik studio in London
Stalked Her: Because we were blown away by her bold commitment to color and her perfect dose of pattern, an animal print that we actually would wear.
Shot Her: Because she’s also displaying our favorite fall makeup move - nude face, bold lips!
She Says: “My necklace is for a small jewelry company that I’m helping to publicize - it’s made from an old wind-up toy! Everyone thinks the dress is from Marc Jacobs because of the print, but it’s just something I found. Animal prints are great if you layer them correctly. “
We Say: Growling with envy.

When do you know you’re at a fashion party and not a rock concert?
When the snare drum is stuffed with a Barneys coat instead of a nylon sound muffler.
Witness the balled up bomber jacket we caught at the Rodnik for TopShop concert this week in London.
They claim they’re not a rock band, and this little gesture almost proves it…
But if you’re heard them belt out their not-hit single “Lovely,” you might dispute their claim -
They’re way better than Fall Out Boy.
Watch their fashion show here.

Oxana Korsun, 25, Fashion Stylist
Got Her: At the Rodnik for TopShop party, inside TopShop’s Oxford Circus flagship
Stalked Her: Because her use of color and pattern was inspiring.
Shot Her: Tights and heels with straps, our favorite Fall combo…
She Says: “It’s mostly vintage, you don’t need to look at the runways so much. Just find what you like…”
We Say: We do like. We really like.

There’s a reason the Rodnik boys are billed as the English Trovata:
They both understand that people remember presentation as much as they remember pants, shirts, and dresses.
So yesterday, the fashion pack arrived at a tiny private house in Shoreditch (think Williamsburg, with vinegar), sipped cups of thick hot chocolate, and steered themselves up a tiny staircase - past Rodnik graffiti, past Rodnik party Polaroids, past a tipped-over piano - into a bright white room with Rodnik’s infamous drum set smack in the middle of a catwalk.
“Are they going to play?” asked The Times Melissa Ventosa-Martin, but instead the lights dimmed and out came the outfits.
That’s when we realized the Rodnikers (Rich Ascott and Phil Colbert, ages 26 and 27) had something else in common with Trovata:
They both make clothes that low-key girls could actually wear to school and work, a concept which works great at boutiques, but gets a little lost in a season of performance-art-with-silk (thank you, Giles).
Have a look…

On Saturday, Rodnik kicked off their ‘We are not a Rock B(r)and’ “world tour” with a three song set at Barneys. Despite some electrical issues the band pulled through like consummate rockstars, with a little help from their fans:
Peaches Geldof, who dueted with designer Phil Colbert on vocals,
Lulu Guinness, who cheered on the band,
and tiny Rodnik fan Bella, who danced around in a Rodnik t-shirt that fell down to her knees.
Sample lyrics: Rising from the ashes, bringing back the fashion like a Russian! Fire! Bird!
—you have to imagine the corresponding choreography for yourself—
The songs may be available for download through Net-a-Porter soon, but until then you can pick up a Rodnik world tour t-shirt at Barneys.

Ever since Rodnik designers Richard Ascott and Philip Colbert showed up on the fashion scene 4 years ago, selling delicate Russian scarves and twirling parasols, they’ve been one of fashion’s coolest pairs.
And now they’re even cooler—
Because now they’re rock stars.
The Rodnik duo is in New York, gearing up for the first show of their We are not a rock b(r)and World Tour. They’ll be playing this Saturday, 2 pm, on the Barneys 8th floor.
Phil will be doing vocals and Rich will be drumming. The songs? A collaborative effort, with a fashion focus.
If you aren’t in New York, Rodnik may soon be coming to your town:
they’re playing shows this fall in London, Milan (at fabled boutique 10 Corso Como), Paris, LA (at Maxfield), and Tokyo (at the Comme des Garcons store).
Rock on, Rodnik!

Last month, the British fashion hobbits known as Rodnik staged a faux rock concert in Selfridge’s.
Their various models and friends made guest appearances as groupies, and the show was such a success, the boys promised to repeat their performance at Barneys when their collection launches this Fall.
Now the party may be postponed, as the boys have a bigger project in the works:
Their first major fashion show, hopefully sponsored by TopShop and British Fashion Week in London.
If they do hit the runway, expect lots of tailored lace, and a slew of pretty girls swooning in the front row - like Trovata before them, this brand has Band Aids to rival any rock group on the road…
In many ways, Rodnik is the British version of Trovata - cute boys taking a classic aesthetic from their country (for Trovata, it’s waspy prep; for Rodnik, it’s British Victorian) and turning it into something fun for young style hounds.
When we heard last night that the Rodnik boys, Rich and Phillip, are friends with Trovata founders Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos, we weren’t surprised.
We were also reminded of Trovata’s infamous “Cat People” prank - staged by John Whitledge, the only member of Trovata who’s still with the company - when we saw these photos from Selfridges in London.
The Rodnik boys climbed into their own display at the store, and put on a rock ‘n roll show for fashion groupies like Peaches Geldof and the Made in Heaven girls.
The Beatles they weren’t, but Rodnik is still planning a stateside tour - we hear that after they make some appropriate band t-shirts, the design duo will hit Barneys to play their very first American concert!
And sell some cute clothes too.
