MAD Paper & Men

coco rocha mad paperball.jpgIf you’re lost without loads of Fashion Week fêtes on your calendar, you need a ticket to Wednesday’s MAD Paperball.

It’s the first, hopefully annual, benefit for the Museum of Art and Design and one of the few of its kind targeted toward a much younger audience - hence the seriously fun fashion names on the host committee including Rogan Gregory, Chris Benz, the Ruffian boys, Coco Rocha, The Misshapes and Rose McGowan (Mad Men’s Bryan Batt is hosting, too). It starts with a dinner and ends with a dance party DJd by Harley & Cassie, Leo Fitzpatrick and Paul Sevigny - so you really actually can pretend it’s still Fashion Week.

All of the money raised goes toward MAD’s education program for kids. They’re hoping to raise that money with a youthful crowd of fashion and art enthusiasts which is why tickets start at just $150 (which may sound like a lot, but isn’t for a benefit, a party and a good cause).

You can buy your tickets here or here if that doesn’t work. And my dream dress here.

Loomstate + Jill Platner’s Summer Pop

loomstates pop up shop.jpgRogan Gregory and Scott Hahn’s Loomstate still doesn’t have its own store — but they’re popping up downtown for the summer.

They’ve snagged a place on Crosby Street, 113 Crosby Street to be exact, with jewelry designer Jill Platner. They’ll be selling limited edition tees alongside their usual organic cotton jeans, dresses and shirts.

Jill’s selling limited edition jewels, too. And if you’re short a few dollars, you can bring in your old gold jewelry for them to recycle.

The store opens to the public tomorrow and will run through the summer.

Ring In Spring With Rogan

loomstate spring 09.jpgThis Friday, Rogan Gregory and his Loomstate team will be hanging out at Kaight on the Lower East Side and they’d like you to join.

In honor of the first day of spring the brand’s head graphic designer’s already created a series of exclusive stencils and will paint them onto Loomstate’s organic tees come Friday. And the tees, which normally sell for upwards of $60, are free with any spring Loomstate purchase.

Kaight, the eco-friendly boutique, is located at 83 Orchard Street and the boys will be there from 5-8.

They’ll also have vodka lemonades, just in case cute boys in organic jeans isn’t enough spring celebrating for you.

Rogan Back to Target with Loomstate

loomstate fall winter look rogan.jpgFans of Rogan’s Target collection have another reason to get excited:

His Loomstate line, based entirely on organic cotton, is set to hit Target stores (and their site) from April 19 to May 22nd, with the tote-friendly price range of $14.99 - $44.99.

Guess all the work Target put into making themselves green enough for Gregory really paid off - this is the first designer to formally go on a second date with the mega retail chain, even if they’ll never admit that it’s basically a Go International encore for one of their most popular editions yet.

Stay tuned for images.

Rogan Making Own Jewelry for Spring; Lady Grey for Holiday

rogan necklace.jpgWe just got back from the Rogan Spring 09 press preview on Franklin, and we have some news:

Not only is Lady Grey designing a collection for the King of Denim, but he’s already designed a jewelry collection of his own, launching this Spring.

The pieces are mostly wood with some metal accents, some of which look like some kind of tangram game for the neck, but we’re into it.

And as for Lady Grey, their designs are still in the works, though the collaboration is definitely on. We were told straight from Rogan’s press girls that the Lady Grey designs will be in stores, exclusively at Rogan, for this holiday season. We think it’s a little funny to debut a designer collaboration for an accessory you haven’t done for your brand yet before you debut your own, which is already designed and made anyway, but it really just makes this more interesting anyway. But what’s most interesting, is how the Lady Grey girls’ aesthetic meshes with Rogan’s decidedly woodsy take on jewelry.

Enjoy some choice looks from Rogan’s Spring 09, after the jump.

Where’s Rogan? Seriously.

rogan gregory.jpgSo, we found this video.

It’s called “Where’s Rogan? with Raymond Uberhoff” and it’s on New York Magazine’s website.

We don’t know what it’s for, where it’s going or how it got here.

It chronicles Rogan Gregory’s humble beginnings, a la E! True Hollywood Story, through to his fashionable success story. But then suddenly, he disappears and Uberhoff dedicates himself to solving the mystery.

Along the way, we meet two men who run a store called Opening Celebration and a girl who’s positively beside herself when she learns Rogan’s missing. We also see the designer hand sewing jeans with a needle and thread in a cage. The episode ends without a solution, but apparently this is just the beginning.

All we could think was, “Is this why his runway show got canceled at the last minute?”

On the Rogan Again

rogan for target tank.jpgIt’s been a few months since we went crazy for the Rogan for Target goods at Barneys, but thanks to the clearance sale on Target’s site, we’re ready for Round Two -

We don’t remember seeing the linen and cotton racerback tank at left, but we definitely see it fitting perfectly into our layering plans for Fall.

It’s $4.24, like a lot of the Rogan items, which we’re pretty sure means we don’t have to explain our reasoning any further.

Happy shopping.

Send your resume and a cover letter explaining why you want this internship to bm@rogannyc.com.

Rogan for Target at Barneys

rogan tote.JPGLast night, Natalie and I bolted uptown for the much anticipated press launch of Rogan Gregory’s line for Target, which was on sale at Barneys.

We each went with one specific item in mind but walked away with three or four. Among the racks of surprisingly very cute, organic cotton clothes we learned the following:

1. The Voguettes aren’t interested in Target clothes - even if they’re in Barneys - and instead headed straight for the surrounding racks of Philip Lim and Mayle.

2. Jessica Szohr, aka Vanessa, is not only a huge fan of Rogan - she walked away with armfuls of tops and brightly colored swimsuits - but also the most beautiful Gossip Girl cast member we’ve seen in person. (Actually, we’ve met everyone but Leighton and yes Jessica even beats Chuck and this is huge for us).

3. We own something from every single Go International collection and Rogan’s is far and away the best quality. Whether it’s because the fabric’s organic or because it was literally two years in the making, we’re not sure, but we do know it managed to hold it’s own among the regular Rogan clothes and every other lust worthy piece of clothing on the 7th floor.

4. When Rogan says eco-friendly, he means eco-friendly - all purchases were packaged in the organic cotton tote to the left.

5. While shopping, we got a message from a tipster that he overheard a girl at the register say, “My ass cheeks are totally going to falling out the bottom of these but, whatever, I’m not going to wear them to work” - she was buying the leopard print shorts.

And that’s how you know just how awesome the clothes are.

The line launches for the public today - so get up there!

Barneys and Loomstate Recycle Together

barneys new york.jpgIf you were planning on using some old t-shirts as rags or just bottom-of-the-dresser-drawer fluff, you might want to hang on a couple more weeks.

Starting April 13, all Barneys stores will accept
all those “vintage” tees from Urban you bought when you first started school, and hand them over to Loomstate so Rogan Gregory can turn them all into a way cooler limited-edition t-shirt collection to be sold exclusively at Barneys for the holidays. Proceeds will benefit 1% for the Planet, and the whole thing is sponsored by the Sundance Channel.

If it strikes you as a rip-off to return to Barneys after eight months and buy back your own old stuff (mixed with a bunch of other people’s old stuff), take comfort in that you’ll receive a 20% discount on the line (and on other Loomstate) for exactly fifteen days in April.

And if the whole thing strikes you as a little too cool for green, you could at least show up to the kick off event at Barneys on the 22nd to be DJ’ed by, of course, Paul Sevigny.
