The Gap isn’t the only place to find cheap Alex Wang these days. Like many other websites and stores, Standard Deviation is having a huge sale, which is where we spotted Wang’s T shirt dress for only $51, 40% off the original price.
Plus this week also brings us the always popular Wang sample sale. It’s at 83 Wooster Street, and you’ll be seeing Spring 09 and Resort 08 merchandise at up to 80% off.
It starts this Thursday, the 9th, 2pm to 8pm (perfect for after work shopping, no?), and continues on Friday (9am to 8pm) and Saturday (10 am to 7pm). Credit cards are only accepted with a minimum $200 purchase so hit the ATM first.
Wang that doesn’t break the bank? Nice. Hope you find something casually cool to lounge around in for the summer.

We try to be kind to our bank accounts, but sometimes a sale so good comes up that it’s very, very difficult to resist. Like this Friday, for instance, Temperley London’s New York boutique is having an up to 60% off sale. So this frilly dress at left, which was originally $1185 is now…$474. Score!
It starts this weekend and goes until Monday, July 20th. We imagine all the best, most gorgeously floaty pieces will go soon, though. If you’re heading to the Hamptons for the weekend and are worried the dress or jacket with your name on it will get snatched up, don’t worry, because their Hampton’s pop-up is also holding the same sale.
For those of us still in the city, the address is 453 Broome Street, on the second floor. The hours are 11 am to 7 pm Monday through Saturday and then 12 to 6 pm on Sunday. Call 212-219-2929 with questions. For those at the beach, the boutique is at 53 The Circle in East Hampton, open 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Saturday and 11 am to 5 pm on Sundays. Their telephone number is 631-329-6505.
Let us know if you get anything good!

Unless it really is next week? Who knows…
LaPerla’s having something called a Sample Sale starting tomorrow.
But instead of samples there will be heaps of non-sample bras and underwear for 90% off retail prices.
Expect $10 and $20 bras, $5 underwear, $15 nightgowns and $30 swimsuits which sound more like heaven then a mere 90% off.
The sale’s at 260 Fifth Avenue between 28th and 29th Streets from 10am to 7pm from tomorrow until Friday.
But if you’re looking to walk away with things in your size, we’d suggest skipping over there as soon before Friday as possible. They can’t possibly mark the product down further and we pretty much guarantee a mob scene.
A year ago, you had to quietly map the Marc Jacobs sale in your head:
“Okay, the store merchandise hits at this date, so let’s give it six weeks, then call to see about discounts” was the general logic.
You could also bribe a salesboy to call you exactly when the sale started or, more easily, befriend a fashion editor or become a fashion editor so you’d get the coveted email from the MJ PR team, telling you to go shopping. We’d be lying if we didn’t admit, a little bit, that this is exactly why we went into fashion in the first place. But anyway.
Today on Mercer Street, that old system shattered, replaced by something newer:
A giant sign that says “70% Off.”
And a grateful nation thanks you, Marc Jacobs.
When a reader wrote in that certain shoes on YSL.com were on sale, we literally said, “Bah!”, but checked anyway, just since it’s our job.
And yet, amazingly, it’s true.
An example: The Jeanne Moccasins, at left, are now $299, down from $439.
You know, just in case the Newest Reductions on Net-a-Porter aren’t meeting your standards.
Good morning.
Did you know Diane Von Furstenberg has her own Facebook page?
You probably did. But did you know you can now use it for sales?
Apparently, she’s trying to really reach out to the youth, kind of like Obama, and look at where that led him.
If you search “DVF” and click on her fan page, you’ll see this pretty DVF graphic offering 30% off over the next five days on Fall ready-to-wear and accessories (we hope that includes the comic book). If you’re not on Facebook for some reason, just enter FACEBOOKSALE on DVF.com at checkout.
We’re delighted that Diane’s tapping into the youth market in a way that actually works with youth, especially since we don’t want her pretty wrap dresses to go away with our mother’s generation. Here’s to hoping for what we think is the next logical step, sales or design previews popping up on your newsfeed, because wouldn’t you love to read, “Those Miu Miu flats on your Net-a-Porter wish list are now on sale” first thing in the morning?

If you, like us, are finding yourself sitting behind a stack of invites that’s growing faster than your wallet, you might be in the market for a dress with a slashed price tag, no?
Enter Castle Starr, who’s having a sale you shouldn’t miss if you’re worrying over what you’ll wear to the non-stopness of the next month:
Where: 494 Eighth Ave, 3rd Floor - Entrance on 35th St

Why: 40 - 60% off regular prices, so a $600 dress is now $290.

It’s not every day that we hear of a sale including the magic sneak-out-of-work number, 75% off, but today is one of those days.
So if you’re as in love with VPL’s contour-laden basics as we are - but as unwilling to pay $265 for leggings as we are - swing by their studio at 39 West 38th Street (between 5th and 6th) for major deals that could fundamentally change your Fall layering approach.
Further details: Sale starts today, ends Saturday, 10am - 7pm each day.
646-912-6142, if you are lost / have the guts to bother them about specific items’ prices.
As always, we suggest shopping early.
Are you really busy today? No, not really?
Good.
Because Mayle’s having a sale, and we know you want to get in on what is likely to be one of their last events.
What: Up to 40% off all Pre-Fall, including bags, silk camisoles, dresses and “some great pants.”
Where: At the Mayle shop at 242 Elizabeth Street.
When: Now until Sunday (October 19th).
Why: Aren’t you just dying for a little piece of history? Below retail?
See you out there.
It’s Day 4 of Spring 09. The tents are starting to look like a fabric prison, and you’re really starting to consider hitting up that open Peroni bar after Peter Som (11am slot).
So, maybe you’re considering ditching some shows, making up an excuse like, “My parakeet ate my Choos” or “I’ve gone blind, so why bother?”
So here’s something that might brighten up your day, if you can brave yet another crowd of pushy, platformed ladies - YSL’s Friends and Family sale starts this Wednesday, and you’re totally invited.
When: Wednesday and Thursday, 8am - 6pm. Friday, 8am to 1pm
Where: The Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th Street)
Why: Up to 75% off original retail prices
No really, it’s not a Fashion Week mirage. It’s a goddamn miracle.

Hey F,
Have you been to the La Perla sale at Spring and Greene yet? (I think their uptown store’s having the sale, too, but I haven’t actually been there myself.)
Sooo much cute stuff still there, all sizes, and like 50 - 75% off, which sometimes means like a $50 bra.
Amazing! Seriously don’t miss this one.
But I bought too much stuff.

We know how rough Mondays can be, so we thought we would make yours a little better.
Walking to work this morning, we noticed a sign for a warehouse sale at Zero + Maria Cornejo, so coffee in hand, we decided to check it out and this is what we learned:
Cashmere sweaters: $120
Winter jackets: $75 - $120
Shirts: $50 - $95
Shoes: $30 - $60
Bags: $50 - $75
And best of all…all samples are $80.
So take an early lunch break and check it out. But don’t take your coffee - this sale requires two working hands, and don’t expect any dressing rooms!
See you there (on Mott near Prince)!
