When Anna Met Alexa

2812 ss10 .jpgThe second biggest talking point of London Fashion Week, post-Fast, appears to be this picture of Anna Wintour and Alexa Chung front row at Twenty8Twelve.

I was sitting there, staring at the back of Anna’s head and wondering how her hair stays so strangely perfect, when Alexa and Pixie Geldof walked in. Anna kept her head down and sunglasses on as the PR tried to sit the it-girl duo next to her. Alexa pushed Pixie, Pixie pushed Alexa, someone even pointed at Anna until finally Alexa got stuck sitting next to her and Pixie moved closer to a red-headed Peaches.

I would have loved to see what happened if Anna had to sit next to a platinum, dirty-haired, ripped tights-wearing Geldof, but she graciously looked up at Alexa, shook her hand and laughed.

So I think that face she’s making has more to do with the clothes than Alexa (after all she is this month’s Vogue it-girl), because while I loved all the denim and corsets and rompers and boyfriend shirts (and Alice Dellal’s full head of hair), the collection didn’t exactly scream Vogue.

Henry Holland Brings Tights to NYC

henry holland comes to ny topshop.jpgHenry Holland for Topshop?

We wish. Instead he’s heading to their stateside flagship to celebrate the launch of his brilliant new tights collection, or so we hear.

The legwear, launched in collaboration with Pretty Polly, launched at Dover Street Market last week, though we’ve already seen them on Agyness and the Geldofs. The tights go for about $15 and mimic the pastel stripes of his AW09 collection.

We’d love Henry to be here for Fashion Week.

In fact, we think he’d fit into Intermix’s Fashion’s Night Out party, hosted by Sienna and Savannah Miller, quite well.

British Vogue Gets To Blogging

VoguecoverNov07_XL_320x421.jpg.jpegAdd another read to your blog roll: Vogue UK is finally in the mix.

We love the site for lots of news coming out of Europe, and of course we’re known fans of what EIC Alexandra Shulman does with the magazine each month. It’s always a great read. They’ve wrangled insiders from their own staff along with others like Savannah Miller to share their insights and favorites.

Magazines, especially the American ones, have been slow to jump onto the internet in an impressive way. But we have high hopes for what the Vogue UK team has to offer. And at the very least we’ll reserve judgment for a bit.

London Model Watch

amber le bon.jpgWe produce models as fast as we can, given the fact that you guys steal them away within months.`

We’ve recently lost Agyness, Daisy, Alexa and Karen, so thank goodness our model machine keeps churning out new faces.

Meet Amber Le Bon, daughter of Yasmin and Duran Duran’s Simon LeBon. The combination of her mum’s legs and her dad’s rock star appeal is thoroughly British. And she’s still too young to leave us. It’s no wonder she’s just signed contracts with high street store River Island and Myla, the lingerie brand whose recent ads starred your Lydia Hearst.

Thanks in no small part to her mum’s enviable Alaia collection, she stood out at last night’s Hogan party, even while surrounded by the likes of Beth Ditto, Giles Deacon, Savannah Miller, Lily Cole and Katie Grand.

The Millers Make Good

2812 aw09 .JPGLast night, I came to terms with the fact that talking to Matthew Williamson is about as close as I’ll ever get to talking to Johnny Depp. And I think I’m ok with that.

He sat front row at Sienna and Savannah Miller’s show at some place called The Dairy. We walked down a long gravel path into a champagne and cigarette smoke-filled tent before entering another tent for the super small show.

The British designer and friend to Sienna sat next to Roisin Murphy who sat one seat away from Alexa Chung, a few down from Leigh Lezark (where’d she come from?) who talked to Lydia Hearst.

According to the program, the collection was inspired by Jean Luc Goddard and Charlie Chaplin. According to us, it was inspired by Sienna Miller. There were waistcoats, skinny jeans, super cute girly dresses that were beyond short (and I’m a huge fan of short). The show ended with colorful sequins or beads (I couldn’t really tell) over thin black jersey shirts and dresses. Jourdan closed the show with the sexy sparkly dress at left.

And you can add the chunky studded platforms to the list of awesome shoes taking London Fashion Week by storm.

Leila: The New Moss?

leila moss polaroid.jpgWe all already know that Alexander McQueen’s range for Target (this Spring!) was inspired by Leila Moss, lead singer of the Duke Spirit, who served as muse.

But now I can reveal through a backstage conversation that Leila has again been named a muse - this time for Sienna and Savannah Miller’s Twenty8Twelve Fall collection, which of course debuts at London Fashion Week this February.

With her amazing band and voice, we wonder: Is this the beginning of a new superstar fashion icon that’s defying an era?

I personally think she can do no wrong. Kate who?

Dylan Thomas, Meet the Misshapes

Picture 9.pngThough the Miller sisters’ clothing line, Twenty8Twelve, has been more successful than the usual celebrity clothing line, (probably because Savannah’s a real designer), they’re branching out to the more lucrative realm of accessories.

So far they’ve done scarves, gloves and bags and we’re hoping shoes aren’t far.

The sisters said their inspiration for their simple but colorful collection was Dylan Thomas’ poetry.

However, the bags named in WWD are called the Harlech, the Lezark, and the Jezebel.

Did we skip that Dylan Thomas poem in AP English?
