No matter which side of the proverbial aisle somebody’s on, if they’re truly into fashion, they seem to be incredibly interested in what the next First Lady wears, some even going so far as to dub her “Lady O,” an obvious reference to our last First Lady style icon, Jacqueline Kennedy. But here’s what’s interesting - her husband might be overshadowing her.

Not only has Puff Daddy (we refuse to call him anything else), proclaimed that Barack Obama’s elegance will be used as a point of reference in marketing his new Estee Lauder fragrance I am King, and not only did a Bosnian suit maker famously name one of his styles “the Obama,” but now Hart Schaffner Marx, the Chicago-based menswear company favored by the President-Elect, is marketing itself as the place to get a suit if you’re trying to dress “Presidential”, and even has an upcoming West Wing collection, according to WWD.

Michelle’s clothes may be racking up hits for J. Crew’s site, but has anyone named a dress after her, or claimed that a collection was inspired by her style?

Also, we can hardly think of any mainstream male style icons (does David Beckham count?), let alone those who were Presidents. Could this be the first time an American President becomes as known for his sartorial choices as for his political ones?

Guess we’ll have to wait and see. But in the meantime, we wonder if anybody’s submitting sketches for his inaugural suit…

Sean Combs and David Beckham have already created some successful fashion ventures, but according to recent rumors in the UK, they want even more.

In a recent interview with an Irish newspaper, Sean said, “I’d love to do a fashion range with David Beckham. He’s a good friend and is very kind. Us two together doing business would be amazing…Perhaps we could collaborate to do something for charity.”

Oh lord.

But Sean may already be too late:

Apparently, Mr. Beckham was recently meeting with Snoop Dogg to create a new range of shoes.

We don’t really know why…

Got Her: At the Vogue/Cover Girl party last night.

Stalked Her: Hello? Do you see her dress? Even Diddy gave her a second look. (He was wearing an original Members Only jacket, by the way).

Shot Her: Because we were staring at her for so long it would have been creepy if we didn’t go up and introduce ourselves.

She Says: “The shoes are Loubs! I wanted to wear something sexy so I borrowed the dress from Cassie. It’s Alessandro Dell’Acqua.”

We Say: Mission accomplished. And those aren’t just any Louboutins, they’re the Rodarte ones, and we seriously admire you for wearing those all night.

Industry insiders have keenly noted two departures from Heatherette in the past two weeks:

First, technical designer Macky Dugan got his own label and his own studio, and then publicist Lysee Webb took a new job at Paper magazine, running their events and promotions.

Now we hear (from a TV producer, no less) that Traver is trekking out to Los Angeles, leaving Richie in New York to start some new solo projects.

That sort of makes Richie like, the Fergie of glitter t-shirt fashion, but whatever.

If indeed there is a Heatherette diaspora, the big question is, “Who will throw an insane fashion show next season?”

Then we remember Sean Combs and Gwen Stefani both have their own lines in the tents and we feel a little bit better.

But only a little bit…
