Mid-Day Snack

giselenamedunambassador.jpgLive at 7:45: Twenty8Twelve is streaming their show from London on their site. That would be 2:45 this afternoon if you’re here in NYC and you guys elsewhere can take it from there. Enjoy. {Twenty8Twelve}

Ambassador Bundchen: Gisele has been named a UN Goodwill Ambassador, focusing on environmental issues, clean water, and all around saving the planet. Her powers did not enable her to score a win in NY against the Jets for the hubby yesterday, however. {Modelinia}

Sitting Down With Yoko: Cory Kennedy talks to Ms. Ono (and Sean) about ThreeAsFour, her new album, and why she wouldn’t co-write with John. {NylonTV}

DKNY Jeans, Scott, Spring

sartorialist for dkny jeans 09.jpgWWD has more details on the Scott Schuman for DKNY Jeans Spring ad campaign.

Apparently, the ads are more Sartorialist than Donna.

Instead of shooting the stars in a group - Chanel Iman, Daisy Lowe, Sean Lennon, DJ Coleman and Kelly Osborne’s boyfriend Luke Worrell - they’ve been shot a la the Sartorialist. Mostly alone and always “spontaneously” as though they’ve been caught out and about on the streets of New York.

It’s Scott’s first major ad campaign, though his images sometimes grace his own site in ad form for Absolut, and the second time he’s aligned himself with a specific brand (Gap). As for DKNY Jeans, the Vice President of marketing says the brand won’t make a single recession minded cutback on advertising, despite the wary actions of their parent brand because as Donna says, “jeans are not about a season, but rather part of your skin”.

At least the major fashion mags are guaranteed one page of advertising.

Irina Retired?

irina lazareanu looking very pretty.jpgThere’s an interesting bit stuck into one of Derek Blasberg’s posts for Style.com, especially in light of so many people wondering why Irina Lazareanu walked barely any shows this season.

After Sonia Rykiel, she said to him, “After that, I’ve retired from shows for good - I mean it!”

Derek doesn’t seem to believe her, but since it seems like Irina (who once walked a record 76 shows in one season) walked in only a few shows this time around, we think it sounds believable.

We know she’s going to front Tiffany’s soon, but that couldn’t possibly be all - maybe she’s finalizing a date for that album of hers…

Whitney Art Party: People Watcher’s Paradise

dior couture shoes.jpgWhat we saw last night, in between looking at the art, dancing under the disco ball and stalking Moby:

- Doutzen Kroes, frustrated, spelling her name to a PR girl who couldn’t figure out why she was there and if she should let her in. Also, she’s the most stunning, perfect human being we have ever seen in our lives. We are not exagerrating.

- Sean Lennon dancing with an Irina look-alike, who definitely wasn’t Irina.

- Barbara Bush dancing with Derek Blasberg, who we thought was Jack McCullough of Proenza, but wasn’t.

- Model kickball. OK, not really but Coco, Behati, Hana, Doutzen, and Elettra, (all in skintight, envy inducing Herve but Coco), huddled in a circle while their dates/friends huddled in a protective outter circle while Rachel Zoe tried to eye her way in.

- The girl in back of us in the bathroom line, asking Lou Doillon, who was in back of her, where she was from, why she was in New York and how she finagled her way into the party. Weird, because Lou is so beautiful it’s kind of obvious she belongs in all the cool places.

- Vogue’s Stephanie LaCava rocking these Dior shoes (left) like they were her favorite Repetto ballet flats.

- Rachel Bilson, waiting in line for champagne, just like us, checking out Natalie. Yes, Rachel, she actually is smaller than you.
