Henry Holland’s show was maybe the most literal thing we’ve ever seen walk down a a runway.
It’s like he took the little paint cards from Home Depot, in the most bubble-gummy colors, blew them up and put them on super fun little dresses with major zippers, transfered them onto shaggy fur coats, men’s shirts and shorts and even bags. And to top it all off, the girls got to wear jewels by Katie Hillier (of POP, of Marc by Marc accessories, of Mulberry etc) exclusively for House of Holland.
Agyness’ and Henry’s families took up an entire row which meant lots of cheering - especially when the two danced down the runway at the end. In fact, our aisle seat lent a perfect view of Henry pulling each girl out from behind the curtain and doing a little dance before sending them out onto the runway.
Dancing, bright colors and shaggy coats might have been the perfect way to end London Fashion Week.
The big non-Golden Globes announcement this morning seems to be all about Sebastian Professional sponsoring the Henry Holland show for London Fashion Week next month.
So we take that to mean that the hairstyles will be particularly over the top, meaning a glimpse of Agyness in extensions is now on our backstage sightings wish list.
But could this also mean a surprise catwalk turn by Sebastian’s face of the moment, Charlotte Ronson?
Guess we’ll have to wait until February 24th, when Henry unveils his newest collection at Quaglino’s restaurant.
And if you can’t wait for Fashion Week just yet, we suggest reviewing Henry’s Spring 09 show, just to be ready.
When we saw the first look at the campaign in this morning’s WWD (ads hit print starting January), we had to do a double take. Charlotte’s almost as well known for her Kate Moss-y slept-in topped with pink lipstick look as she is for cute dresses with a whole lot of pink. In short, we love.
If we knew how to spell out a one of those gross guy whistles from the street, we would.
(We’d also like to point out that the trademark of a really good model is the chameleon effect - Charlotte Ronson for Charlotte Ronson ads? Let’s hope..)
Cory Kennedy will no longer be the hair of Sebastian. The new girl? Charlotte Ronson.
We’ve been sitting here trying to think of instances where real designers posed for real campaigns (Paris Hilton for Guess does not count), and we’re pretty sure Charlotte’s breaking the mold.
She gets to wear her own clothes in the ad, and we’re sure all her girls in February will be bouncing Sebastian-made waves down the runway, but does anyone else think Sebastian’s making some strange choices of campaign faces in terms of who most people in the country can identify in a line-up? Or maybe that’s the point…
As for Charlotte, between this and her J.C. Penney deal, we see many dollar signs in her very near future…
Here’s a little behind-the-scenes video of her shooting the campaign for those of you still in disbelief - click to hear that she (of course!) uses the products on her own time, that it’s made for “people”, and to watch her try to hop around in her broomstick yellow YSL Tributes.
Whether the main product, Whipped Crème, will come with a diagram on how to get the perfectly haven’t-seen-a-shower-in-months look remains to be seen…
That rumor we spread about Mark Fast doing a line for Topshop? It's true. And it's in last week's Sunday Telegraph magazine which means it was true before we even said anything and we've had it in our lap since... Read More
Meet Blue Logan, if you haven't already. A couple of years ago a friend dragged the soft-spoken Brit to a show at London Fashion Week, Aquascutum he thinks, and he started to draw the models as they walked down the... Read More
