Prepping Dark Jeans

Sep 30, 2008 @ 10:04am

black jeans.jpgHi,

I just bought a gorgeous pair of super-dark jeans that I am loving.

Unfortunately, even though I have washed them five times, the color continues to come off on everything they touch.

I am now limited to wearing them with dark tops and black bags to prevent ruining any of my other clothing.

Any suggestions on how to prevent this?

Thanks!

xo

I'm no expert, but if you hae washed them more then two times (60C), they should stop rubbing off.
And if, like you say, they still are making everything else black you have more then the right to take them back! And get a new pair for free!

Yikes! I agree. Doesn't seem like this should still be happening if you've already washed them a few times. What brand are they?

They are Sevens and they were actually pretty expensive for Sevens. I may have to try the vinegar rinse, thanks for the tip! I washed them a few more times and they seems to be better. I'm still afraid to wear white with them though!

Well just to let you know in the future - my dark wash J brands never ever did this. So maybe next time... ;)

Make sure you turn all your black (or dark clothes for that matter) inside out when you wash them. I've heard the vinegar solution works well but haven't tried it myself. Google said it was a cup or two of vinegar per load, I would double check. Also woolite makes a "darkwash" detergent that helps.

the next time you need dark/black jeans try twenty8twelve. i got a pair of low rise skinny jeans in black for under $100 and they haven't rubbed off on anything- even though the label was really adamant about being careful of rubbing against things. they run a little small but i was looking for something with a smaller leg opening (i think it's 9-10inches). i've always had a problem with my skinny jeans covering my heels and looking more skinny boot cut rather than straight skinny. these bunch prefectly at the ankle and they're not super long like many of the designer jeans.
