Paris in the Summer

Mar 12, 2009 @ 12:24am

charlotte casiraghi in pink scarf.jpgI'm going to Paris in July and was wondering what kind of clothes I should pack with me.

I've never been before so I have no idea how people would normally dress there and I don't want to stand out as a tourist!

Thanks.

I am half American but I grew up outside of the US and mostly in Europe and I've found that people tend to stand out as tourists when wearing: Uggs, fanny packs, university sweatshirts (also things such as t-shirts with CIA or FBI written on them), etc.. Just try to wear things that you like and are comfortable on you (especially if you are doing alot of walking) but are also pretty and chic. Don't to try too hard to look stereotypically 'french' especially since if its not your usually style, but do try to look nice and presentable to represent yourself well and not stand out too much. Make sure to have enough room in your suitcase for any shopping you do while there! And if you are going in a group don't shout loudly in English and point obnoxiously at stuff, be polite and try to learn a little French (if you don't speak it already) before you go. I hope this helps and I hope you enjoy your trip!

Paris is usually a little breezy in July so I recommend tons of layers. Peel 'em off, put 'em on. If I were going to PAris, I would bring:

- a pair of perfect skinny jeans.
- a pair of nicely tailored trouser jeans
- a beautiful black dress (which can work with a sweater over it during the day).
- plain black flats
- a trench coat
- one medium weight wrap sweater (because you can wear it so many ways)
- one light weight nicely cut cardigan.
- a sundress (or two).
- sandals which you could hike a mile in if need be.
- 3-5 t-shirts of different sleeve lengths.
- the purse/bag you love the most which you can fit a good amount of crap in.

BON VOYAGE!!

I've lived in Paris for 2 years and the summer (especially july and august) can be soo hot. I would recommend some cute light weight summer dresses as well.
