Exclusive First Look Inside Style.com’s New Print Mag: Peep the Azzedine Alaïa Interview and Find Out the Top 5 Viewed Runway Shows

Style.com/Print, that’s Style.com’s new print mag (if you haven’t heard), doesn’t hit newsstands–or the web–until Monday, October 31 but we’ve got an exclusive first look at one of the juiciest features in the new issue: An interview and photo essay spotlighting legendary designer Azzedine Alaïa.

Photographer Kacper Kasprzyk shot model Saskia de Brauw in head-to-toe Azzedine Alaïa (left) for the debut issue, and the photos are accompanied by a Q & A with Alaïa (conducted by Style.com EIC Dirk Standen) as well as a profile on de Brauw.

Style.com’s New Print Mag To Hit Newsstands Next Week, Will Cost $14.99

Back in April, we reported that Style.com would be launching a print magazine in the near future and now, here it is.

The New York Times reports that the glossy magazine will hit newsstands next week and will go by the name of Style.com/Print. Besides its awkward title, which the Times‘ Eric Wilson calls “puzzling” and the slightly befuddling concept to begin with (how would clicking through endless runway shows translate into print?), the new magazine actually sounds pretty interesting.

Beyoncé is Working on a Maternity Line (Plus See Her Cover and Editorial for Harper’s Bazaar)

Beyoncé, Sexy & Pregnant. That’s the obvious headline that accompanies Beyoncé’s cover for the November issue of Harper’s Bazaar. But the accompanying cover story tells us some fun facts about Beyoncé and the designers that love her. Oh, and she looks amazing in the editorial, shot by Terry Richardson–click through for pix.

Here’s what we learned:

- Beyoncé working on a maternity line for House of Deréon, the line she produces with her mom Tina. “I love figuring out designs that still make me feel edgy and sexy while pregnant,” Beyoncé told Bazaar. “Flowy fabrics are always flattering…but I still rock my stilettos.”

- Designers Love Beyoncé. Everyone from Azzedine Alaïa to Tom Ford to Riccardo Tisci weighs in with praise for the superstar. In a fantastic little aside, we also learn that Alaïa listens to Beyoncé all the time and can dance the “Single Ladies” dance. Now we cannot picture anything else. Here’s what these hot shot designers had to say about Bey:

Here Are Some of the Designer Looks That May Have Inspired Kanye West’s Collection

Kanye West’s Spring 2012 collection has already been criticized for many things, one of them being a lack of originality. One of the first tweets from inside the exclusive Paris show was from Jessica Michault (of the Times and International Herald Tribune) who said, “I think that every one of the designers sitting in the front row at Kanye West must have had a deja vue moment at some point during the show.” Ouch. Though, Michault does have a point.

From Alexander Wang to Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen to Azzedine Alaia, the designers West chose to have in his front row, it seemed, were ones he is inspired by. So we dug up past looks–mostly fall 2011–from those designers, plus a couple of others, that looked eerily similar to the ones West showed on saturday. Click through and tell us if you agree.

Kanye West Spring 2012: Kanye Debuts In Paris, Gets Slammed By Critics Already

Kanye West showed his debut collection tonight in Paris. The show was easily one of the most buzzed about of the week and he wrangled an impressive front row, with designers outweighing celebrities. Based on reports from Twitter and Eric Wilson’s just-posted write-up on the Times‘ blog On the Runway, Azzedine Alaïa, Joseph Altuzarra, Alexander Wang, Olivier Theyskens, Dean and Dan Caten, Jeremy Scott and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were all there. The right editors were there too: Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld, Glenda Bailey and Anna Dello Russo. As for the celebrities who showed? La Lohan was there, as we reported, and so was Ciara, but sadly Beyonce and Jay-Z were no-shows. Or maybe, not so sadly, considering the show was slammed by critics almost as soon as the first model hit the runway.

We’ll have our review posted tomorrow morning (our fabulous contributor, Flaunt’s Long Nguyen, was one of the lucky 100 granted a ticket). Until then, here’s what the critics had to say about it over Twitter. Warning, it’s not pretty.

Sofia Coppola Weds in Lavender Azzedine Alaïa!

Sofia Coppola Weds in Lavender Azzedine Alaïa!

Filmmaker and style icon Sofia Coppola married longtime rocker boyfriend Thomas Mars Saturday in the remote southern Italian village of Bernalda. The rumors about her dress were true–Sofia wore a custom made lavender gown by Azzedine Alaïa and here is the first photograph to emerge, via People.

Her father, Francis Ford Coppola, walked her down the aisle in the garden of his villa, Palazzo Margherita. The civil ceremony was officiated by Bernalda’s mayor Leonardo Chiruzzi, who told the Associated Press, “If they wanted to do a Hollywood wedding, they wouldn’t have done it here…(They) chose to do it here because it’s here–it’s here that is beautiful.”

Sofia Coppola’s Getting Married Tomorrow! What We Know About the Wedding, Plus a Look Back at Her and Thomas’ Effortless Style

Another style icon and hip musician are getting hitched.

In what promises to be a slightly more under-the-radar ceremony than Mosstock, filmmaker Sofia Coppola will wed her longtime boyfriend and father of her two children, Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars (née Croquet), in Bernalda, Italy tomorrow night. Though, like Mosstock, the ceremony will take place at a family-owned villa in a small village. Here’s everything we know, including dress speculation:

10 Engaged Celebs and The Wedding Dresses We’d Most Like to See Them In

The Kates were only the beginning.

Remember when everyone in Hollywood was pregnant? Now, they all seem to be engaged. The most recent starlet to get a ring put on it is the always-stylish Carey Mulligan, whose engagement to Mumford & Sons’ Marcus Mumford was announced yesterday.

A ton of other well-heeled celebs are planning to tie the knot, from Kim Kardashian to Sofia Coppola to Natalie Portman to Zoe Saldana. And since it’s currently wedding season, we thought this would be a good time to speculate on what dresses those celebs might wear down the aisle. Or, at least, what we would like them to wear.

Beyoncé Wears Mostly Unknown French Designers on Her New Fold-Out Album Cover

Beyoncé has never been afraid to take risks with her wardrobe choices, whether it’s Thierry Mugler, who created her tour wardrobe in 2009, McQueen or Givenchy couture, both of which she wore in the “Girls” video; or even a Tina Knowles creation. Her looks are always daring and transformative.

For her latest fold-out album cover, the Times notes, Beyoncé’s signature bold looks are there, but the big designer names are not. On the cover, she wears a fur stole by up-and-coming French designer Alexandre Vauthier, who she also wore on stage at Glastonbury recently, where she outshined the mud-covered masses in a gold sequined number by the designer.
