Best of Resort 2013, Part One

The Resort 2013 collections are trickling in from all of the fashion capitals and while we have no idea what our holiday vacation plans are, we already have a pretty good idea of what we want to be wearing. So far, we’ve been particularly pleased with what our favorite New York designers have to offer Read more →

Fashion’s Most Stylish Guys Give Mark Zuckerberg an (Almost!) Hoodie-Free Makeover for Facebook’s IPO

Mark Zuckerberg is having quite a month. The Father of Facebook just turned 28, bought out Instagram for $1 billion and is now facing the most lucrative point in his career: Going IPO on Friday. We’d offer him a congratulatory “poke” but sadly, that option’s no longer available. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the IPO acronym, it stands for Initial Public Offering– meaning that the company will finally be open to stock holders where the likes of Wall Street—-and even you!—- can purchase a part of the social media company.

But with the estimated $100 billion that’s supposedly coming his way, we’re wondering whether the Harvard dropout will invest in a new wardrobe. Will he finally change out of his usual uniform consisting of dowdy college hoodies, sweat-drenched Adidas shower flip flops, and tattered baggy jeans, into something more uh, dapper? Better yet, the question posed is this: Can all the money in the world transform someone from HTML geek to sartorial chic? Fashionistas can only hope!

To give him an extra boost, we’ve enlisted the help of several fashion experts from designers like Carlos Campos, Alan Eckstein from Timo Weiland and Simon Kneen of Banana Republic, to editors from GQ and Esquire, to buyers and the likes to see what kind of advice they’d shed onto Silicon Valley’s hottest star. And regardless of whether he takes our suggestions or not (note to Marky Mark: you really, really should!), happy IPO Day! We’d definitely like to send you a congratulatory poke soon—- this time, live and in-person.

What Fashionista Editors Want for Spring

Spring merchandise is about to hit the racks, and with the mild winter we’ve had, we are itching to get our hands on some warm-weather goodies. So we all went pretend shopping–which hopefully will soon turn into real shopping.

Picks from our favorite designers, from 3.1 Phillip Lim to Céline are here, as well as a few unexpected products like a new MacBook Air (a business expense!).

Click through to see what Fashionista editors are coveting for spring–not all of it is within our budgets, alas, but we can dream. What are you dreaming of adding to your closet this spring?

Band of Outsiders Fall 2012: A Not So Wild Wild West
Reviews

Band of Outsiders Fall 2012: A Not So Wild Wild West

Scott Sternberg clearly had Mexico and the American Southwest on his mind for his fall collections for Band of Outsiders, Boy and Girl. Each guest was treated to a Mexican wedding cookie (though we overheard one editor say that the fear of powdered all over his face and clothes sugar kept him from digging in), a curtain opened to reveal a southwestern tableau with an azure sky, and the show opened to the theme to the “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.”

Only there was nothing ugly about these clothes, of course. I maintain that if most dudes wore a little Band of Outsiders that would be a good thing.

What We Saw Today at New York Fashion Week, Day 3

Today the Fashionista team was busy running all over Manhattan to catch shows from Alexander Wang, Prabal Gurung, Altuzarra, Band of Outsders, Rachel Antonoff, Wes Gordon, and so many more!

In between taxis, subways, and the occasional pedi-cab, we managed to take a few snaps of NYFW through our eyes. Click through the gallery to see everything from Gisele backstage at Alexander Wang (yes, this happened and we almost died) to a real cat posing with models at Rachel Antonoff!

The Best of Pre-Fall 2012

While spring and fall seasons may give us more to to ooh and ahh over, pre-collections often present more of what we actually want to wear. It makes sense, since everyone says the in-between seasons are the most important for retailers. And these designers have succeeded in making things we already want to buy, desperately. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until early summer (“pre-fall” is a bit misnomer) to do so. Click through for what we feel were the 10 most drool-worthy collections so far.

Check Out the Full Boy by Band of Outsiders Fall Campaign Starring Actress Elena Anaya

Since Scott Sternberg released the polaroids of Harry Potter’s Rupert Grint and Tom Felton that would act as Band of Outsiders’ fall menswear campaign, we’ve been anxiously awaiting the debut of the women’s counterpart, and here it finally is!

This one features gorgeous Spanish actress Elena Anaya, who stars opposite Antonio Banderas in the new Pedro Almodóvar film, The Skin I Live In. Sternberg’s fall collection for Boy had a late ’70s preppy tomboyish charm that comes alive in these polaroids, which he shot about a week ago at a private residence in Beverly Hills. I’m not sure if it’s the hazy L.A. backdrop or Anaya’s jealousy-inducing physical perfection, but they make me want to buy everything in this collection even more than I already did. Click through to see them all!
