Author Camilla Morton on How Diane von Furstenberg’s Charmed Life Became an Actual Fairy Tale

Camilla Morton is putting a whole new (chic) spin on the classic fairy tales you know and love from childhood.

The fashion writer and internationally bestselling author’s new illustrated series blends the stories of designers’ lives with those of fairy tales. After penning fairy tale memoirs for Manolo Blahnik and Christian Lacroix, the latest designer to get Morton’s magical treatment is Diane von Furstenberg.

Diane von Furstenberg and the Tale of the Empress’s New Clothes tells both the story of how von Furstenberg became the successful woman she is (a story which, mind you, includes a real-life prince), with a reinvented take on the classic fable The Emperor’s New Clothes.

Far from being just the subject, von Furstenberg collaborated with Morton closely on the book and did all the illustrations. We caught up with Morton to chat about why she decided to write the book, what it was like working with Diane von Furstenberg, and which designers she hopes to collaborate with next. Read on.

Kim Kardashian Wore a Questionable Leather Outfit, More About Anne Hathaway’s Weight Loss, and People Bought the Row’s $55,000 Pill Bag

Hugh Jackman lost a lot of weight for Les Miz, but at least he had time to do so. Not so for poor Anne Hathaway, who Jackman says had just 14 days to lose “300 pounds.” {Refinery29}

Were you just wondering why you haven’t heard anything out of Cat Marnell in a while? That’s because she’s in rehab in Thailand, reportedly paid for by Vice. {NYPost}

Oh Kim–maybe it’s time to stop letting Kanye dress you. The reality TV star stepped out in Miami in a super-tight crop top and leather skirt. {US Weekly}

Victoria Beckham Will Help Choose the Winner of the International Woolmark Prize

Victoria Beckham can add a new distinction to her already ten-page-long list of accomplishments: The pop-star-cum-fashion-designer has just been named one of the judges of the prestigious International Woolmark Prize, Vogue UK is reporting.

And Beckham is certainly in good company: Donatella Versace and Diane von Furstenberg have also joined the judging panel this year, alongside Vogue Italia EIC Franca Sozzani and Style.com’s Tim Blanks.

Gwyneth Paltrow is the New Face of Max Factor, The Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine Designs a Line, and Anna Wintour is Obama’s Top Bundler

We knew Anna Wintour was a major contributor to the Obama campaign, but just how much has she raised? Well, to put it lightly: a lot.{The Cut}, {NY Times}

The Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine has teamed up with contemporary label PJK (formerly Patterson J. Kincaid) to create a new line for Spring, aptly (and hilariously) called MR x PJK…Just Sayin’. We assume it will be appropriately man-repelling, so wear with caution. {WWD}

Check out this super cool video, shot backstage and on the runway, that was made with the Google Glasses Diane von Furstenberg had on runway. So that’s what they were there for! {HuffPo}

Diane von Furstenberg’s Creative Director Yvan Mispelaere is Stepping Down

Diane von Furstenberg and DVF creative director Yvan Mispelaere may have been all smiles on the runway when they took their bows at the Spring 2013 show–but clearly there was more going on underneath the surface than meets the eye (or the Google goggle). Just 48 hours after the DVF spring 2013 show, Yvan Mispelaere is “stepping down from his post effective immediately,” WWD is reporting.

Fashion Week Scoreboard: Diane Von Furstenberg

It’s Sunday in September. I’ve just opened a beer and sat down with a giant pile of buffalo wings, which can only mean one thing…It must be Fashion Week. Yup, Fashionista convinced a sports writer in deep Olympics withdraw to take Fashion Week to the next level in celebration of competition, achievement and obviously–judgment. We’ve developed a sophisticated scoring system and will be handing down scores to some of the top shows at NYFW based on atmosphere, difficulty and execution. Fashion is no business for second place…and there can only be one winner.

A Closer Look at Michelle Obama’s Flawless DNC Wardrobe

We know it’s New York Fashion Week, but we’re starting to wonder where the fashion shows really were the past few days: here or in North Carolina?

The FLOTUS looked absolutely stunning once again last night on the last day of the Democratic National Convention. While her husband took the podium, she wore a well-tailored burgundy floral-printed dress by up-and-coming African-American designer Laura Smalls with an Alexis Bittar flower pin on her lapel.

Smalls is staging a small fashion week presentation on Tuesday and we bet her PR just got a lot more RSVPs.
