Victoria Beckham Will Help Choose the Winner of the International Woolmark Prize

Victoria Beckham can add a new distinction to her already ten-page-long list of accomplishments: The pop-star-cum-fashion-designer has just been named one of the judges of the prestigious International Woolmark Prize, Vogue UK is reporting.

And Beckham is certainly in good company: Donatella Versace and Diane von Furstenberg have also joined the judging panel this year, alongside Vogue Italia EIC Franca Sozzani and Style.com’s Tim Blanks.

Fashion Pets: Meet our Favorite Designers’ Four-Legged Furry Friends

People love pets– and designers are no exception. With all the constant crazy talk happening in the fashion world, who wouldn’t want a verbally challenged companion? It’s easy to understand what makes pets so appealing to the fash pack: No amount of cross-breeding could produce a canine or kitten with the ability to question, “What’s going on with John Galliano? Is Kim the new Gwyneth? And those wigs at Chanel… why??” They may shed fur all over your best black suit, but they’ll also still love you regardless of what Anna Wintour thinks of your F/W collection.

The late Alexander McQueen famously left his three beloved dogs the extremely generous (though probably under-appreciated) postmortem gift of £50,000. And while it’s safe to say that not all designers would go so far as to supply their pets with a year’s salary, it’s clear that their animal friends hold a dear place in their hearts.

Versace Atelier Returns to the Ritz for Its First Couture Runway Show in Eight Years

Until this past January, Versace hadn’t shown its couture Versace Atelier line since 2004. The collection and format–a small presentation set on gilded stairs Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris–received mixed reviews at the time.

In her review of the show, Cathy Horyn said “The presentation had a tension that might have been eliminated had Ms. Versace just staged a normal show.” Style.com‘s Nicole Phelps agreed, writing, “The only off note: a rather glitzy, cheaply constructed set that didn’t live up to the glamour of the moment she was channeling.” Perhaps she reads her reviews because Donatella Versace plans to change the setting on format for her next Atelier Versace presentation.

The Muppets Premieres Tomorrow So We Recast the Movie With the Muppets’ Fashion Doppelgangers

The Muppets Premieres Tomorrow So We Recast the Movie With the Muppets’ Fashion Doppelgangers

Last night we had the pleasure of attending a pre-screening of The Muppets, which officially opens tomorrow (many thanks to Bliss Spa for the mani and movie!) Anyway, it was brilliant. The producers of this flick are obviously big fans of the Muppets, and they’ve treated their subjects with complete affection, and tossed in a heavy dose of nostalgia (try not to cry during the Piggy/Kermit “Rainbow Connection” duet). The humor is cheesy, but with a clever wink at the audience, and the celeb cameos are inspired. Emily Blunt reprises her The Devil Wears Prada role as the snarky fashion assistant (albeit with wackier hair) to Mlle. Piggy, who is a plus-size editor at Vogue Paris. How controversial. Anyway, we won’t spoil the sweet moments of the movie. You should go stand in line and see it first thing tomorrow.

The protaganists go through a bit of angst in the middle of the film and sing a song called, “Am I a Man or am I a Muppet?” Why choose? We think there’s a little of both in all of us. So, to that end, we present our favorite Muppets and the fashion people who could play them. Or vice versa.

Yes, Versace for H&M Round Two Is Really Happening, But It Won’t Be Available in the US

So we almost fell off our proverbial leather studded chairs yesterday when we figured out that Versace for H&M was not a one-off collab after all. There’s more to come! WWD has some more details today, and take a deep breath, US–we are getting stiffed this time around.

The new collection, designed by Donatella and her team, will go on sale January 19. The catch? It will only be sold by H&M online. Which means no dice for us Americans, because, if you’ll recall, H&M isn’t launching e-commerce stateside until Fall 2012, which is like nine months after this spring collection launches. Yeah, it’ll be sold out by then.
