The Fall 2011 shows are 75% over, and we’re pretty comfortable calling braids a world-wide trend. Can we blame/credit Alex Wang‘s S/S 2010 collection for the current plaitmania? Hard to say, but you couldn’t go more than 50 feet without seeing a braided model.

They were loose and boho at Rag and Bone and Erdem (and Mara Hoffman topped hers with turbans). Rachel Roy and Erin Fetherston were channeling the St.Pauli Girl (or yodelers). Alexandre Herchcovitch and Nanette Lepore got complicated with their braided updos, and Etro flirted with cornrows.

When we arrived on time for a trio of Saturday evening presentations at MAC & Milk, we couldn’t possibly have predicted the insanity we were in for. With the fur-coat-wearing, Blackberry-brandishing masses attempting to simultaneously check in for Suno, Erin, Pamela Love, Billy Reid, Illesteva, and Altuzarra, suffice it to say that there weren’t quite enough iPads on hand to make the process run smoothly. After over an hour of waiting in the throng, we were informed that all the eighth-floor presentations had finished. While we aren’t surprised that 450 West 15th St. is an incredibly coveted show locale (regal and historic as Lincoln Center may be, it just doesn’t carry the same edgy-cool factor as MAC & Milk) we hope that as the week progresses, the downtown venue will step up its game and be better able to handle the crowds.

If you didn’t get your hands on one of the lust-worthy pieces from one of Target‘s blink-and-you-missed-it designer collaborations over the years, you might get a second chance. In celebration of Five Years of GO International®, Target is following in the footsteps of Betsey Johnson and Anna Sui by reissuing 34 dresses from the following 17 previously featured designers:

Luella Bartley, Tara Jarmon, Paul & Joe, Behnaz Sarafpour, Proenza Schouler, Libertine, Alice Temperley, Erin Fetherston, Jovovich-Hawk, Rogan, Richard Chai, Jonathan Saunders, Thakoon, Tracy Feith, Rodarte, Zac Posen and Tucker.

Live From New York, It’s Saturday (& Sunday) Night at Milk

This weekend at Milk was jam packed, with shows from a plethora of talented designers. Gary Graham showed a strong collection on Saturday, as did Isabella Tonchi.

Sunday was busy with a show from Erin Fetherston with Kelly Osbourne front row, and a presentation from Pamela Love complete with mixtape goody bags, and a colorful and joyous presentation from Peter Jensen.
