In lieu of regular paper invites, Henry Holland sent out old school audio tapes, printed with his show information, for Fall 2013. (The Manrepeller’s Leandra Medine and I wondered if they had any actual music on them but, alas, like every other show goer, we didn’t have access to a Walkman.)
It was the perfect introduction to a collection that was equal parts ’90s raver girl nostalgia, tongue-in-cheek kitsch, and modern street style bait.

While everyone else is talking about the looks they can’t wait to wear from the New York fashion week shows, here are the wildest and least wearable ones. {HuffPo}
The red carpet mini-me’s we saw after the Golden Globes are back with a Grammys edition, and they’re just as cute. {US Weekly}

Showing skin is taking a turn for the demure. London has been chock full of skirts with sheer panelling, a more cautious take on the sheer trend, though no less suggestive. There is certainly no shortage of options, either.
Cheerio! We’re hitting the London shows and we don’t want you to miss a single review! We checked out House of Holland‘s 90s inspired runway, Issa‘s tropical prints, and Preen‘s quietly gorgeous collection.
The Clothes: Henry Holland went all-out, unabashedly 90s–think overalls and belly shirts. Holland likes to take patterns and blow them up really big (see: last season’s houndstooth); this season he did “oversized shadow checks.” He’s also not afraid to apply a lot of color; purple metallic floral jacquard was interspersed with tie-dyed silk pieces. They may disagree on the season’s must-have accessory, or which color is “in,” but British designers are united on at least one thing: Their love for the Queen. So, to show their devotion in the most fitting fashion (literally), the UK’s leading designers dressed up their model muses as a ‘living example’ of their work Read more →
Fashion month is halfway over now, with London and New York behind us. London was a whirlwind of shows, many of which took place over President’s Day weekend. In case you missed the coverage, we’ve rounded up our ten favorite collections from what was a very innovative and colorful five days in London.
We saw a diverse bunch of fall 2012 collections, from established British heritage designers to buzzy wunderkinds, and even a high street label or two. London fashion represents a lot of different lifestyles, and this season’s shows had something for everyone to love.

If there was ever a reason to give up my beloved Blackberry and finally get an iPhone, the Henry Holland-designed iPhone cover-cum-show invitation would be the reason to do it. Featuring an oversized houndstooth print in pink, purple, red, and white, it was an intriguing hint of things to come.
But first to answer the big question on everyone’s mind: Was Rihanna at the show? I was craning my neck at every pop of the flash bulb, but sadly RiRi didn’t show. The front row was made up of a gaggle of Henry Holland friends and the usual London it-girls–Pixie Geldof, Poppy Delevigne, Leigh Lezark, and newly-anointed ambassador of British fashion, Alexa Chung (wearing paisley pants in a way that totally proves she deserves her ambassador title). And while Rihanna didn’t show up, Azealia Banks did!
A big congrats to Henry Holland, Louise Gray, Mary Katrantzou and James Long (the sole menswear designer) who have just been announced as the recipients of the British Fashion Council’s Fashion Forward scholarship. Long is the first menswear designer to receive the award. Each designer will receive financial and ‘business’ support for two consecutive seasons to show at London Fashion Week. Last year Peter Pilotto, Meadham Kirchhoff, and Todd Lynn took home the prize.
London fashion week is over, seemingly in the blink of an eye. But before Milan swoops in and steals all the glory, we wanted to give a shout out to the 10 collections we loved most in London. Brit designers gave us a lot of pastel and florals, a lot of color, and a lot of cheekiness.
