SCAD Students Show Off Their Work at a Dinner Honoring Hugo Boss CEO Mark Brashear

“I’m so awesomely proud to show off our SCAD student work here in New York City with our incredible partners of Hugo Boss,” Michael Fink, SCAD’s dean of fashion explained at a dinner this week celebrating the school’s latest Etoile Award recipient: Hugo Boss CEO, Mark Brashear. Held at the Mallick Williams & Co gallery, which is currently exhibiting a display of Jeremy Kost’s jigsaw Polaroids, the event served as a platform to show off some of the school’s senior theses, which will take to the runway on May 19th in Savannah.

“I’ve gone down there twice now, I just love the whole Savannah thing–they just own the whole town. I couldn’t be more impressed with the programs and the quality of the work,” Fern Mallis said.

If Miu Miu’s Fall Ad Campaign Was ‘Irresponsible’ Here Are Some Really ‘Irresponsible’ Ad Campaigns

As we reported earlier, Hailee Steinfeld’s fall 2011 Miu Miu campaign, which depicted her sitting near a train track, was banned in the UK for being “irresponsible because it depicted a child in an unsafe location.”

By that logic, the following ad campaigns, some of which depict actual dangerous situations, should never have made it to print. I mean, I can’t believe we aren’t hearing about people hurting themselves every day by climbing the Eiffel Tower in high heels and standing on top of volcanos. Although, death by attempting to recreate a Dior campaign would be a pretty chic way to go. Fashin has some excellent “irresponsible” ad campaigns with some hilarious captions here. Click through for 10 more examples.

Here Are the Top Ten Fashion Brands That Are Conquering the Digital Realm (Plus the Brands That Aren’t and Should Be)

Fashion has been notoriously slow to take to the online world (particularly on the editorial side), but some brands are really getting it right. A smart digital strategy can translate to brand awareness, and ultimately, lots of sales.

L2‘s Digital IQ Index took this concept to the next level and released its third annual report card assessing brands’ “digital IQ.” The ratings they give range from Genius to Feeble. Digital strategy is often uneven, and this can hurt a brand. Per the report: “Although 94 percent of brands in the Index have a presence on Facebook, one in five brands still lacks e-commerce capability.” How annoying is it to try to buy something online, only to discover you actually have to leave your home? That kind of thing really matters to consumers these days.

So who’s excelling online and who needs a lot of help? Here’s the top ten list:

Fragrance Friday: Heidi Klum Is “In” At Coty, Orlando Bloom Is An Orange Man, And Vincent Cassel Wants To Seduce You For YSL

It wouldn’t be a Friday without some celeb fragrance news.

Heidi Klum Gets A Scent: We’re frankly surprised that it took this long. Heidi’s new fragrance, Shine, will launch in September 2011. There’s no information about what the fragrance will actually smell like.

She has already worked with Coty, who’s producing the scent, on Euro makeup brand Astor, but this will be her first foray into the American beauty market. Heidi told WWD that her dad was a marketing director at a cosmetics company and she interned there when she was 13. Perhaps a full color line is next?

And any bets on whether or not the next batch of Project Runway designers will have to create a look inspired by Shine?

Orlando Bloom Is Not A Model:
