Kanye West Won’t Show a Collection at Paris Fashion Week
Could this be the end of Kanye West, fashion designer, as we know him?

The rubber soled creepers at Chanel’s latest cruise show extravaganza at Versailles seemed a far cry from those blister inducing corn causers we usually see on the runways. Or were they?
Model Meghan Collison told WWD that despite Chanel being her “favorite” resort show so far this year, the mere mention of the luxe runway setting was enough to send Collison spiraling back into the painful memories that apparently were Karl’s creepers:
We wish we were making this up. The Dior rumor mill went on hiatus for a few months, perked up again during Paris fashion week and we haven’t heard anything since…until now. And it’s not at all what we expected to hear.
According to our source, Kanye West–you know, the rapper who designed a couple of not-so-well received collections and showed them in Paris–has been in talks with the 65-year-old couture house about the position John Galliano left vacant over a year ago.
Mantyhose Exist: Men in tights exist outside the Sherwood Forest! In fact, hosiery retailer Emilio Cavallini told WWD that purchases by men (for themselves) now account for 2-3% of annual sales – and he’s now making unisex tights. While most men wear their mantyhose as a thin, long-underwear layer, some Euro style-setters have been seen wearing them under shorts as, well, tights. Hey, if J.Lo can wear a jock cup… {NY Mag}
Jourdan Dunn Says Kanye West’s Shoes Were “Fixed”: Despite all the worry surrounding Kanye West’s impossible-sounding shoes this season, it seems to have all worked out. Model Jourdan Dunn told Fashion Bomb Daily at the show’s after party that the towering stilettos “were actually ok! They fixed them!” No details on what was exactly “fixed” about the shoes… but for the models’ (and every potential future retailer’s) sake, we’re glad to hear it! {Fashion Bomb Daily}
Sienna Miller Talks Pregnancy to Vogue UK: Practically perfect pregnant person Sienna Miller looks extremely happy on the cover of Vogue UK‘s April issue (fully clothed, mind you!) and talks about her “bump” for the first time. The generally private style-maven says she’s “under strict instruction” not to say too much about the whole thing though, but I think we can all assume that there will be a (well-dressed) baby in the end. {Vogue UK}

PARIS–Fashion can be a cruel business, when one minute you’re hot and the next you’re forgotten, never to be heard from again. But fashion is also a place where redemption can occur; one good show can wipe out the previous seasons’ debacles…just like that.
Kanye West’s debut collection was simply bad, even for those of us who actually rooted for him to succeed. Because the negative criticism of his spring collection was fairly unanimous, it cannot be dismissed as media bias. “Has he learned a hard lesson and can he redeem himself?” was the question on our minds as the car breached the secure steel gate to enter the back docks of the vast Halle Freyssinet complex on a frigid Tuesday night.
Kanye West shoes are getting all kinds of publicity lately.
West‘s second runway show is set to take place tonight in Paris. The anticipation is killing us and apparently the shoes are killing Kanye’s models, like Jourdan Dunn. As the blog Glamazons pointed out, the British beauty took to Twitter over the weekend–presumably while at a fitting for tonight’s show–to sound off on the footwear.
After Kanye West’s debut fashion collection was pretty much universally panned last season, we sort of got the feeling we’d never see it again. However, the rapper-turned-designer has henceforth proven us wrong–twice. First, we learned hot Paris boutique Colette was carrying his shoes (for just under $6,000) and now a piece from the collection has Read more →
PARIS–I stopped by Colette today on the way home from Balmain because Carven designer Guillaume Henry was wearing the cutest white t-shirt with his initials embroidered on it and he said he got it at Colette. Turns out It was a limited edition thing. Tant pis. A future project for P.S. I Made This? But Read more →
We attended Aussie designer Dion Lee’s debut London presentation over the weekend, and loved the sexy, modern vibe of it. We liked the shoes, too, but didn’t think much about them again, until we saw an interesting tidbit posted on the Daily Pedestrian: Kanye West designed the shoes with Dion Lee.
Dion Lee’s PR representative confirmed that the shoes are indeed by Kanye, as a special collaboration for A/W 2012. We also read that we just missed Kanye at one of Lee’s continuously looping presentations–he showed up for one of the intimate gatherings to lend his support, according to PagesDigital.
Which leads us to wonder, is Kanye hedging his bets with a shoe design career if he can’t get his fashion line off the ground?
There have been rumors, and Kanye all but confirmed it on Twitter, but now we know with certainty that we can look forward to (or dread) a second Kanye West collection and runway show. Karla Otto, Kanye West’s PR agency, confirmed to WWD that West will show at 9.30 p.m. on March 6. The venue has yet to be confirmed.
While we haven’t heard anything concrete about Kanye West’s clothing line since October, recent rumors about his looking for studio space in London to prep a fall 2012 collection suggest that it’s still something he’s working on. Good for him.
Yeezy also appears to have launched a a new Twitter handle for his line: @Dwbykanye. The description: “Kanye West’s most anticipated Fashion Clothing Line DW.”
Anna Dello Russo Wore Kanye West Three Days After His Show: Possibly his sole endorsement, but a pretty large one at that. So far, though, an ADR plug isn’t quite enough to keep the critics at bay. {MTV Style}
The Queen Nixes a K.Mid Vogue Cover: A palace source said the Queen “would not be amused… Her Majesty is a real genius at making people squirm with simply a look or a ‘tut, tut.’” Style icon isn’t really part of Kate’s Princess duties, apparently. {HuffPo}
Katy Perry Launching a Second Fragrance: The “sequel” to Purr comes out in November as a Nordstrom exclusive. The name remains a secret, but Perry is tweeting clues; lucky guessers will win prizes! Participate if you care. {WWD}
