Kate Spade Spring 2013

The Clothes: Kate Spade’s spring vision is highly stylized and in full technicolor. There were plenty of references to the 80s, mostly in the way the looks were accessorized, like glossy pink pumps worn with ankle socks. There was no shortage of the signature girly, uptown elements: bows, tweed and nipped waists. But there is Read more →

Kate Spade Rumored To Be Launching New Lower Priced Line To Compete with Madewell, C.Wonder

The New York Daily News is reporting that Kate Spade New York is planning to launch a lower priced line called Kate Spade Saturday. According to the News, the line is positioned to compete directly with Chris Burch’s controversial line C.Wonder (which has come under fire for looking too similar to the line Burch started with his wife, Tory Burch).

We hear from a source that this new project has indeed been in the works for the last six months, but that it will look more Madewell than C.Wonder. Though, given Kate Spade’s signature Brad Goreski-aided, clean, bright, colorful-yet-classic aeshetic, a lower-priced version might look a bit like C. Wonder by default.

Juicy Couture, Kate Spade, and Lucky Brand are Selling Stocks on Facebook–Will Other Brands Follow Suit?

You can now do a lot more than just ‘like’ a brand on Facebook. Starting today, you can buy their stock.

The parent company of Juicy Couture, Kate Spade, Jack Spade, and Lucky Brand, Fifth & Pacific Cos (formerly Liz Claiborne) just launched a new initiative–the first of it’s kind–that allows customers and fans to buy stocks in the company directly from their brands’ Facebook pages, the Boston Herald is reporting.

And you don’t need to be a millionaire or financial wiz to get in on the action either–Stocks can be purchased fee-free with just a few clicks of the mouse for as little as $10. Customers can also set up payments in pre-set monthly increments of $10, $25 or $50 with a debit card, and for those with a little more money in their pockets, one-time investments of up to $2,500 will be allowed.

Kate Spade Fall 2012: A Little Slice of Paris

Kate Spade might be an all-American brand but for Fall 2012, designer Deborah Lloyd looked across the pond for inspiration.

“The collection is very French inspired, as you can see,” Lloyd told us. “You have this flirtatious gamine thats inspired us.” In other words: The gamine, French New Wave theme first introduced by Jason Wu for Target is still going strong this season. And the clothes did an excellent job of embodying that certain je ne sais quoi so associated with the French: There were pretty day dresses styled to perfection with colorful cardigans, peter pan colors, and smart tomboy-ish trousers in gray, black and the season’s color: orange. The polka dot was also big in the collection–both literally and figuratively, with oversized dots adorning overcoats to tiny black and white dots covering even the models nails. “The polka dot is carried over into everything-shoes, bags, tights, linings,” stylist Brad Goreski told us.
