The 3 Most Buzzed About Shows from Day 6 of Paris Fashion Week

Sunday was a very good day for the fashion week lunch bunch, with Sister Maria looks at Givenchy and cute jungle cats prints at Kenzo. But for the woman of a slightly older demographic, critics concurred that Céline’s furkenstocks–and inimitably chic new twist on soigné dressing–made a powerful statement for the working mother who would wear her house slippers proudly out in the world.

The critics have spoken, and here’s what they said.

Kenzo Flies in Momofuku Milk Bar Bakers to Make 6000 Tiger-Shaped Cookies for their Paris Show

Kenzo Flies in Momofuku Milk Bar Bakers to Make 6000 Tiger-Shaped Cookies for their Paris Show

Kenzo knows the fashion pack has a sweet tooth (even if they talk a big game about their pre-fashion month diets/juice cleanses/fasts).

For their fall show last season, Kenzo creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon flew Magnolia’s bakers over to Paris and had individually boxed cupcakes placed on every seat. This season, they were back to their sugary-sweet ways and, obviously, we were psyched.

Today Kenzo released a new campaign video featuring the label’s pre-fall 2012 collection. Directed by hot young filmmaker Quentin Jones (the 27-year-old former model also did the fantastic video for the launch of Victoria Beckham’s Victoria line), the video maintains Kenzo’s cool factor–something newly appointed creative directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim have everything to Read more →

Grading the Fall Ads, Part 1

‘Tis the season for fall campaigns to start hitting the internet, which as you all know is one of our favorite seasons of the year! It’s a time when we get to see whether brands will stay true to their Fall 2012 runway visions–or if they’ll opt for a more (or sometimes less) marketable image.

So far we’ve seen ads from Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Versace who all kept to their AW12 motifs almost verbatim (Vuitton wasn’t ready to part with their train just yet), as well as options from Giorgio Armani, Bally, and Kenzo who took different, but equally cool routes.

Click through to see which brands aced their fall ads and which need a little improvement.

The Best Shoes of the Fall 2012 Season

The Best Shoes of the Fall 2012 Season

We’ve scoured the Fall 2012 collections for the most amazing shoes, and it was easy, because there were plenty. The best part? Footwear options for Fall 2012 are a lot more reasonable than their Spring 2012 counterparts. (Remember those 6 inch Versace lucite wedges?)

Fall 2012 saw lots of wide heels and mary-janes on the runway, and sometimes both simultaneously–like at Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Marni. Knee-high black boots ruled at Alexander Wang, Altuzarra, Givenchy, and Rick Owens, and ladylike pumps could be found at Lanvin, Nina Ricci, and Jil Sander. Of course, if you’re looking for something crazy, look no further than Alexander McQueen’s heel-less fur shoes. Impractical, but so lovely.

Take a look at all the amazing shoes from Fall 2012 and just try to pick a favorite. It’s near impossible.
