Yes, the refrain of the evening at last night’s over-the-top Margiela for H&M bash was obviously “What’s that jacket, Margiela?”

For the record, Kanye was wearing Margiela (well, Margiela for H&M anyway) and when we spotted him somewhere around the 7th floor he was all smiles which I take to mean that drunk fashion people (there were many, many well-stocked bars) weren’t shouting his own rap lyrics at him. Good job people!

Confirmed: Maison Martin Margiela is Doing a Collaboration with H&M and Here Are All the Details

So, looks like that Maison Martin Margiela for H&M collaboration is happening after all. Only a day after the rumors broke, H&M has sent out a press release confirming the new partnership.

Maison Martin Margiela for H&M will launch November 15, and will feature clothing and accessories for both men and women. It’ll be available in 230 stores worldwide and online (cross your fingers their US ecommerce site has launched by then).

While we’re excited to see what the new collection will turn out (hair shirts, please!), we have to say, at first glance, the collaboration seems like an unlikely pairing.

H&M’s Next Designer Collaboration: Maison Martin Margiela!?

And the next H&M designer collaboration is…wait for it…Maison Martin Margiela!? We never saw this one coming.

According to WWD, H&M will announce a one-off holiday collaboration with Maison Martin Margiela “soon.” H&M has neither confirmed nor denied the collab, saying, “We never comment on rumors,” but we’re hoping this one happens, if only to see what fans wear when they inevitably line up for it days in advance. Plus, we trust WWD‘s sources.

The Swedish retailer’s past collaborations have included Versace, Lanvin and Karl Lagerfeld to name a few–brands with instant name recognition and obvious mass appeal. But H&M seems to be taking an edgier turn lately.

While shoes got a bit tamer for Fall 2012, handbags have only gotten more wild.

Fur and faux furs bags were all the rage at Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Dries van Noten, and Michael Kors, and while the perspex bags at 3.1 Phillip Lim and the cute minauderies from Diane von Furstenberg may not be totally useful, they sure are cute.

Or course if you need a bag that will actually fit your things inside it, the giant leather carryalls at Alexander Wang might just do the trick.
