Ottavio Missoni, co-founder of the Missoni brand, died this morning at the age of 92. According to a statement from the brand, Ottavio “passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family,” in Sumirago, Italy.

While the search for the plane carrying Vittorio Missoni, his wife, and two friends, continues, new information about the aircraft’s pilot has come to light that could provide important clues in the plane’s mysterious disappearance off the coast of Venezuela January 4.
According to Italian newspaper La Repubblica (via The Cut), ANSV, Italy’s agency for flight security, learned that neither the pilot, 72-year-old Germán Marchan, nor the airline involved in the incident were fully licensed to operate.
New clues have been revealed in the mysterious disappearance of Vittorio Missoni’s plane, which went missing January 4 off the coast of Venezuela with Missoni, his wife, and two friends aboard.
“In order to give continuity,” the Missoni company said its menswear show will take place in Milan Sunday as scheduled. WWD reports it will be shown “solely to press and buyers.”
Yesterday, as the search for Missoni heir Vittorio Missoni continued, the New York Post reported that the disappearance may have in fact been a kidnapping.

As you may have heard, reports surfaced this weekend that a small plane carrying Vittorio Missoni (the eldest of three heirs to the Italian fashion house and current CEO of the brand), his wife, Maurizia Castiglioni, and two other Italians, disappeared off the coast of Venezuela Friday. Three days later, the search continues for the missing plane.
The frenzy surrounding the Missoni for Target collaboration (remember how it crashed Target’s website?) really made an impression on the Missoni family. They are reportedly planning to launch a lower priced line in the near future.
