Out of all the cities in our March Madness Bracket, the nominations for London were the most erratic. Unlike cities New York or Milan, where clear front-runners emerged, the race for London was tight–which lead to some disappointing losses, including fan-favorite Simone Rocha.

The players who were lucky enough to make the tourney–Christopher Kane, Preen, Burberry, and Jonathan Saunders–will now duke it out to the next round.

The 5 Most Buzzed About Shows From Day 3 of London Fashion Week

Has hell frozen over? Sunday at two of London’s most redoubtable print masters, Mary Katrantzou and Jonathan Saunders, bright digital prints were not at display. (Boobies were though, at the later.) Also of note were the grown-up womanly looks at Mulberry and Preen as well as at L’Wren Scott’s UK debut, where look seven (a cobalt wool dress with gold collar) premiered on the runway after it premiered on Nicole Kidman at the Stoker premiere.

Preen Fall 2013: It’s the End of the World As We Know It

According to the show notes, Preen designers Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi were inspired by the end of the world–or more specifically, Derek Jarmon’s stylized version of the end of the world in his post apocalyptic New Wave cult film Jubilee.

The first looks out were sharply tailored suits in a stark red, black, and white palette. It was the kind of power dressing that would definitely look at home in a post apocalyptic world where, presumably, even the well-dressed need to fend for themselves–it was almost like a kind of modern day armor, the purpose of which is to intimidate as well as protect.

Killer Style: How to Dress Like A Hitchcock Heroine

Hitchcock, the Oscar-vehicle starring Anthony Hopkins as Hitch and Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, hit select theaters this past weekend. There hasn’t been much fashion buzz about the film aside from Scarlett Johansson’s Psycho-themed V cover, which focused more on her scream than her clothes (as well it should have), but we’ve always had a soft-spot for the fashion in Hitchcock’s films.
