Hannah MacGibbon Out at Chloe, Pringle of Scotland’s Clare Waight Keller In

After receiving lukewarm reviews for her snakeskin print-heavy Fall 2011 collection, rumors swirled last March that Chloé designer Hannah MacGibbon would be ousted from the label. Word then came that Chloé had extended MacGibbon’s contract for one more season. In hindsight, the label’s statement at the time was somewhat cryptic. The higher-ups at Chloé told WWD, “Hannah is still with us, that’s all I can say.” Not an entirely convincing vote of confidence.

News broke this morning that effective June 1, Pringle of Scotland’s former creative director Clare Waight Keller would be taking the helm at Chloé. Hannah MacGibbon will “pursue new projects.”

Fashion News Roundup: Pippa Middleton Parties With Her Top Off, Kate Moss Gets an Exhibit, and Beyonce Can’t Get Anna Wintour to Dance

Pippa the Party Girl: Though we love us some Kate Middleton, it’s obvious that Pippa is the fun sister. The younger Middleton works as a party planner, and judging from a picture floating around the internet, she’s got plenty of partying experience under her belt. The image shows Pippa, wearing only a bra on top (her body looks ridic, natch), dancing with a shirtless boy. In the background, tables are filled with bottles of booze. {Huffington Post}

Knockoffs at Tiffany’s: Tiffany & Co. has a new collection of jewelry that resembles a thin twisted rope tied into a dainty bow. The company is usually the victim of counterfeit goods, but this time, it looks like Tiffany’s might be the culprit. The designs share a strikingly close resemblance to Brooklyn-based designer Kiel Mead’s collection of “Forget Me Not” accessories that he first produced in 2005. {UnBeige}

Kate Moss Gets an Exhibit in New York: Beginning on May 17th, the Danziger Projects gallery in New York will transform into a Kate Moss shrine. The exhibit, The Moss Portfolio and Other Stories, will feature 11 famous portraits of the model as well as images of Moss before she was famous. {ELLE}

Label News: Pringle Hires a Balenciaga Designer as Its Creative Director; Sigerson and Morrison Leave Sigerson Morrison

Label News: Pringle Hires a Balenciaga Designer as Its Creative Director; Sigerson and Morrison Leave Sigerson Morrison

There’s been lots of moving around at fashion houses as of late, and this week is no different. First, Pringle announced that it’s bringing on Balenciaga alum Alistair Carr as its new design director.

Carr, who most recently worked directly under Nicolas Ghesquiere, has also done time at Marni, Cacharel, and Chloe. This is a big get for Pringle, and a chance for Carr to make a real name for himself beyond the industry’s core. (He is also a mentor/friend of Fred Butler’s; you can learn quite a bit about him on her blog.) Indeed, Pringle just became a hot London Fashion Week ticket.

Stateside, Sigerson Morrison founders Kari Sigerson and Miranda Morrison have announced that they’re leaving the company.

Pringle and Paul Smith Fall 2011: Doing What They Do Best

LONDON–Knitwear is a natural fit for fall collections, and Pringle parlayed its heritage into a show full of pieces you’ll yearn to cuddle up in come the cold snaps of ’11-12.

Skirts resembling blankets draped around the hips, and a leather dress laser-cut with a fine Fair Isle pattern, stayed with us through the day. Also smart was a petrol blue silk blouse with cape-like panelling that fluttered around the arms.

Later, at the Savoy ballroom for Paul Smith‘s show, it was all about menswear for the girls. Cropped suit trousers, laceless brogues, prefect ties, fashion glasses and mannish blazers were sensual with sheer silk blouses. Wearers will cherish the quiet, special detailing, like the contrasting felt-backed collars and purple satin piping on a pair of gray trouser’s pockets.
