In case Hedi Slimane didn’t make it clear enough already–you know, by casting Saskia de Brauw in his men’s campaign, using female models in his fall 2013 men’s show, and designing nut-crushing skinny jeans–Saint Laurent‘s menswear is not just, well, for men.
Pre-Fall 2013 has wrapped!…or has it?…Nobody can quite say for sure, but with the Fall 2013 shows quickly approaching in mid-February, we figured now was as good a time as any to take inventory of our favorites from “the season between seasons.”
If Slimane didn’t exactly revolutionize menswear (as he did with his first show), he certainly established a different point of view of what menswear is.
Hedi Slimane has really been putting his photography skills to work as the new creative director of Saint Laurent.
Most recently, he’s rounded out his uber cool cast of musicians/models like Beck and Edie Campbell with pouty It girl/up-and-coming musician Sky Ferreira (who was front row at his PFW debut and wore pre-fall look 7 while performing on Jimmy Fallon last week).
The Golden Globes is the first major event of award season and it usually gives us a taste of what sort of trends we can expect on the red carpet this year.

Which ones are you feeling most?
Cher Coulter is one of Hollywood’s top stylists. She was named one of The Hollywood Reporter’s top 25 stylists this year and her client list includes perennial best dressed list-ers Kate Bosworth, Sienna Miller, and Elizabeth Olsen.
For the Golden Globes, she dressed an impressive four clients: Sienna Miller, Nicole Richie, Rosie-Huntington-Whitely, and Huntington’s beau Jason Statham.
We asked her to keep a diary of the whole process, which she says is “VERY competitive”–especially considering this is a “difficult time for fashion.” What she means is that the new couture collections are just days away, summer is long gone, and it’s “too early in the season to pull anything new.”
Somehow Coulter managed just fine.
