New show reviews and galleries are in! Check out Theyskens’ Theory, Thakoon, and Carolina Herrera.
Thakoon Panichgul is a master at making clothes that are sweet without being saccharine, quirky without being twee.
Today we hit the midway point in the New York fashion week madness, with shows from Derek Lam, Victoria Beckham, DVF, Zac Posen, and many more.
We got a pretty good seat behind Anna and Grace at Thakoon and spied Bryanboy and Fashionista contributor David Yi rocking matching looks at DKNY. We also caught dreamgirls Crystal Renn and Coco Rocha being beautified backstage as Zac Posen (as if they needed it), and models vogueing backstage at Derek Lam.
Check out everything we saw and snapped from day five of New York fashion week!
Pre-Fall 2013 has wrapped!…or has it?…Nobody can quite say for sure, but with the Fall 2013 shows quickly approaching in mid-February, we figured now was as good a time as any to take inventory of our favorites from “the season between seasons.”
Who’s in the running towards becoming America’s Next Inauguration Designer?
We won’t know for sure what Michelle Obama will wear to the inaugural balls until Monday (unless someone who doesn’t value their job decides to spill the beans), but WWD‘s got the scoop on which designers have fielded sample requests from the White House.
No one on the list is particularly surprising.
Anne Hathaway covers February’s Harper’s Bazaar UK, and they’re sharing a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot. What’s up with her eye? {Harper’s Bazaar UK}
The latest Brangelina rumor is that the power couple married Christmas Day at Donna Karan’s home in Turks and Caicos. It can’t be true, though, because we never got an invite….{Telegraph}
Rihanna’s latest video is a sexy ad for her home country Barbados. In it, she rides a bike through the woods and frolics on the beach. Is it vaca time again yet? {HuffPo}
Thakoon Panichgul’s Pre-Fall 2013 served up a smorgasbord: Imagine ordering a light brunch and receiving a seven-course banquet (where to start?). Pendleton blanket-stripes met William Morris florals, in the midst of military austerity dialoguing with kitsch-and-wit.
He put a bird on it.
Michelle Obama established herself as a fashion-forward First Lady back in 2008, wearing Michael Kors and Jason Wu with such frequency that nobody could deny they were among her favorites. But now that her hubby is up for reelection, Michelle has introduced us to a whole new batch of faves, many of whom are CFDA honorees and edgy, young wunderkinds.
This year alone, we’ve seen Michelle step out in up-and-coming labels like Preen, Band of Outsiders, Wes Gordon and Lyn Devon–and she’s also been giving love to more established brands like Balenciaga, Peter Som and Sonia Rykiel that were previously absent (or at least very rare) from her wardrobe in past years. But don’t worry – even though MObama’s cool factor has increased like, fivefold this year alone, she’s still maintained loyalties with more classic, well-established labels like Michael Kors, Talbots and J. Crew, who we believe to be responsible for the green and yellow colorblocked number she wore in late June.
The Resort 2013 collections are trickling in from all of the fashion capitals and while we have no idea what our holiday vacation plans are, we already have a pretty good idea of what we want to be wearing. So far, we’ve been particularly pleased with what our favorite New York designers have to offer Read more →
