Vera Wang Has a Pantry for ‘Orange Food’ and Almost Got Shot by Hillary Clinton’s Bodyguards

Every month, Harper’s Bazaar gives us a peek inside the day-to-day life of a big designer and for November, they’ve given us fashion mogul Vera Wang.

One thing we’ve learned from this feature, in which designers recount an average day, from waking up, to going to sleep, is that fashion designers have some pretty…eccentric daily habits. Peter Dundas takes a jet to work every day, Karl Lagerfeld has two houses and Vera Wang has an entire pantry containing only orange food, practically lives in her van and once almost got shot by Hillary Clinton’s bodyguards.

A Look Back at Gossip Girl‘s Finest Fashion Moments

A Look Back at Gossip Girl‘s Finest Fashion Moments

It’s official: The series finale of Gossip Girl is a mere eleven episodes away. While many a cynic may argue that the show actually ended sometime during the second season, for us die-hard Upper East Side wannabes, this news is harder hitting than a Nairtini to the head.

Of course, what we’ll miss most of all is the fashion. Gossip Girl has been on top of the fashion game since its first “XOXO” way back in early 2007, and as the series progressed, the characters’ signature styles arguably surpassed the plot development in terms of critical praise.

Between Blair’s preppy headbands, Chuck’s dandy suits, and Serena’s gravity-defying cleavage, the influence the kids of Constance have had on street style and fashion spreads alike is undeniable. So, as a tearful ode to our favorite CW soap, here’s a look back at some of the style stand-outs that have made the last five years of impossible-to-follow plot lines a little more bearable.

The 5 Most Buzzed About Shows From Day 6

Facing fashion fatigue? Us too. However! The Mulleavys‘ medieval warrior princesses in bad-ass laser-cut heels march on. Tuesday critics lanced a few barbs (shades of Balenciaga, anyone?), but were surprisingly receptive to a broad array of world traveler-inspired styles fit for women on the go. Perhaps the biggest surprise was at Narciso Rodriguez, where the designer stepped out of his greige-y comfort zone and was loaded for a career-high performance. Find out which other shows had everyone buzzing on day 6.

Vera Wang and Arthur Becker File for Separation–What Does This Mean for the Future of the Vera Wang Label?

Vera Wang and Arthur Becker File for Separation–What Does This Mean for the Future of the Vera Wang Label?

While all eyes are on Katie Holmes’s and Tom Cruise’s divorce, another power couple has quietly parted ways. Vera Wang and her long-time husband and business partner Arthur Becker have filed for separation, WWD is reporting.

Wang declined to comment, however her company’s president, Mario Grauso, issued a statement saying that the couple “mutually and amicably agreed to separate,” and that “they remain devoted parents to their two daughters.”

Becker, who married Wang in 1989, is known to have advised the designer closely in her business pursuits, helping to take the Vera Wang label from a one shop bridal boutique to a global multimillion-dollar company.

25 Women Designers Who Changed Fashion Forever

The upcoming Costume Institute exhibit and Monday’s Met Ball honors two of fashion’s most beloved women designers: Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada. But what about the other female names that have helped to change fashion forever?

Recently, Style.com‘s Nicole Phelps noted that in New York fashion today there is a surprising lack of big-name female designers, which begged the question: “Is it easier to succeed in New York fashion as a man?” Phelps certainly has a point: After all, in the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund’s eight year history, the prize has only been awarded to women designers twice.

The dearth of female designers in New York is particularly disheartening, when you consider the important role women have played in shaping fashion’s past and present. From Coco Chanel, to Phoebe Philo, female designers have provided a fresh–and needed–perspective on fashion and in many cases, they changed the industry as we know it.

So, in honor of those women that have blazed the trail in fashion design, we take a look at the 25 most influential female designers, with the help of Parsons’ Francesca Granata and Pratt’s Jennifer Minniti. Click through and get inspired.
