Woody Allen, Grimes, Turn Out for J.W Anderson x Versus Versace Rave

Donatella Versace revealed her new vision for Versace’s little sister brand Versus at what was essentially a rave held at the Lexington Avenue Armory last night.
Last November, Versace announced a new strategy for its little sister line Versus. Christopher Kane would no longer design it, and Versus would never do a runway show again. Going forward, Versus would be a series of collaborations between Versace and “various creative innovators and designers” and have a “strong digital element.”
So what does that all mean?
A new video airing exclusively on Fashionista sheds some light on what Versace has in mind for her beloved Versus (she says it’s “the first collection my brother Gianni gave to me in complete freedom to do”) in advance of the first designer capsule collection for Versus with J.W. Anderson.
Versus’s follow-up to Christopher Kane will be another young British star: J.W. Anderson.
Before the rumors about Christopher Kane going to Balenciaga were squelched (a spokesperson for Kane said that the report was “unfounded”) I wondered: If Kane was going to helm Balenciaga, what would happen to Versus, the kid-sister Versace line he’s designed for the past six seasons? Surely, he couldn’t carry on designing three lines.
Even though today brings no new developments regarding who will replace Nicolas Ghesquière at Balenciaga, Versace has announced that Christopher Kane will be leaving Versus in what WWD is describing as a “mutual agreement” between Kane and Donatella Versace.
It’s a “mutual agreement” because there was no termination of contract–Versus is simply taking a different tack.
The intrepid fashion flock moves ever onwards. As the shows begin in Paris, flash back with Report Card to see what restrained (mostly!) acts of creativity had critics buzzing each day in Milan.
Three down, one more to go: Yep, another fashion week has come and gone. Here are our 10 favorite collections from Milan fashion week.
We’re still in Milan, eating chunks of parmesan, pleading with PRs, and bringing you the latest show notes and galleries. Today we’ve got MaxMara’s sportier more casual li’l sis Sportmax, Fendi’s Rubik’s cube-y collection, and Christopher Kane’s loud prints and plasticized fabrics (all with a live soundtrack provided by Beth Ditto) at Versus.
The Clothes: For their spring 2013 show, Versus did the unthinkable: They started exactly on time. So on time that, upon arriving just 15 minutes after the scheduled show time, we found that we had already missed the show and Beth Ditto was already performing. (Yes it’s true, we lingered maybe too long at dinner, Read more →
We’ve scoured the Fall 2012 collections for the most amazing shoes, and it was easy, because there were plenty. The best part? Footwear options for Fall 2012 are a lot more reasonable than their Spring 2012 counterparts. (Remember those 6 inch Versace lucite wedges?)
Fall 2012 saw lots of wide heels and mary-janes on the runway, and sometimes both simultaneously–like at Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Marni. Knee-high black boots ruled at Alexander Wang, Altuzarra, Givenchy, and Rick Owens, and ladylike pumps could be found at Lanvin, Nina Ricci, and Jil Sander. Of course, if you’re looking for something crazy, look no further than Alexander McQueen’s heel-less fur shoes. Impractical, but so lovely.
Take a look at all the amazing shoes from Fall 2012 and just try to pick a favorite. It’s near impossible.
Looking for fur, faux or otherwise, in every color of the rainbow? Milan is more than willing to help you on your search.
Milan Fashion Week has come to a close, and the stylish masses have moved on to Paris.
