New blog Part Nouveau, or ‘partly new’, delves into fashion history to showcase the inspiration–be it art, photography or design–behind some of today’s biggest fashion moments. It’s fascinating and impossible not to get lost in, so we asked the site’s founder, Lilah Ramzi, to give us a little history lesson each week. Read on for the first installment.

It’s been a season of second, third, and even fourth chances. After stints at Perry Ellis, Paco Rabanne, and Gap, designer Patrick Robinson is once again staging a comeback–this time, as creative director of Armani Exchange.
Currently waiting in the wings is former Dior designer John Galliano, who has been assisting in Oscar de la Renta’s atelier and is purportedly in talks to teach at Parsons.
We can’t say for sure whether either of these comebacks will take, but we can tell you about the returns other designers have staged in the past. Here are fashion’s greatest comeback stories:

Rumors about an Yves Saint Laurent biopic starring French actor and model Gaspard Ulliel, have been swirling for a couple of days, and now WWD finally seems to have solid confirmation about the project.
According to the trade, the biopic is to be called Saint Laurent, and it will indeed star Ulliel in the title role. We can’t wait to see the handsome Ulliel, who is also the face of Chanel’s men’s fragrance Blue, in a pair of oversized square specs.
Well that was fast. With the exception of Gwyneth Paltrow’s mysterious Hedi Slimane-designed handbag, it seems Lady Gaga is the first celebrity to don a full look from the spring 2013 Saint Laurent collection which debuted on the runway exactly one week ago (can you believe how much s**t has gone down in a week?).
Could this be a white flag in the on-going dispute between designer Hedi Slimane and critic Cathy Horyn?
Slimane has removed all his tweets about Cathy Horyn, including the original open letter. There is no explanation left in it’s place, so we’re left to wonder what motivated the designer to delete them at all.
