Fashion 2.0 Awards Winners Announced: The 3rd annual Fashion 2.0 Awards, which honors the fashion brands that have been most innovative in the media and technology, were held in NYC last night by the Style Coalition. Winners of the night included DKNY for Best Twitter, Marc Jacobs for Best Website, and one of our personal favs, Instagram for the Next Big Thing in Tech. Alexander Wang is Expanding Eastward: Alex Wang is breaking the typical fashion business expansion mould (West followed by Eastern markets) with plans to open fourteen locations in Asia in the next year. The designer, who has no plans yet to open any more US stores (he currently has only one in NYC) says he has seen “the progression” of fashion in China years after his mom tried to (lovingly) pressure him into moving there. Wang’s 4,000-sq-ft Beijing flagship store will open its doors next month. {WWD}

American Apparel Reports Growing Numbers: The controversial retailer is expected to post gains of 11% for same-store January numbers, which have been rising since September of last year.
