While shoes got a bit tamer for Fall 2012, handbags have only gotten more wild.
Fur and faux furs bags were all the rage at Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Dries van Noten, and Michael Kors, and while the perspex bags at 3.1 Phillip Lim and the cute minauderies from Diane von Furstenberg may not be totally useful, they sure are cute.
Or course if you need a bag that will actually fit your things inside it, the giant leather carryalls at Alexander Wang might just do the trick.
It’s a wrap! Fashion Month is over, and while we’re relieved to be out of the madness, we’re still a little sad to see it go. Paris Fashion Week brought us a host of incredible, inspiring collections, but it wouldn’t have been complete without the well-dressed people who attended.
Paris has been saturated in cobalt blue this week, and while that can be dangerous for your health (no really, cobalt poisoning is a thing), we’re happy to risk a little for the sake of fashion. The powerful hue has made stops at big shows like Céline, Stella McCartney, Balenciaga and Chanel already, making it Read more →
We’ve scoured the Fall 2012 collections for the most amazing shoes, and it was easy, because there were plenty. The best part? Footwear options for Fall 2012 are a lot more reasonable than their Spring 2012 counterparts. (Remember those 6 inch Versace lucite wedges?)
Fall 2012 saw lots of wide heels and mary-janes on the runway, and sometimes both simultaneously–like at Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Marni. Knee-high black boots ruled at Alexander Wang, Altuzarra, Givenchy, and Rick Owens, and ladylike pumps could be found at Lanvin, Nina Ricci, and Jil Sander. Of course, if you’re looking for something crazy, look no further than Alexander McQueen’s heel-less fur shoes. Impractical, but so lovely.
Take a look at all the amazing shoes from Fall 2012 and just try to pick a favorite. It’s near impossible.
There is no better time or place than Paris Fashion Week to try out the season’s most over-the-top, impractical items. And that is what the fashion crowd has done this week with what is arguably spring 2012′s most ridiculous accessory: Balenciaga‘s visor hat. Yep, people–well, fashion people–have actually been wearing this black Darth Vader-esque number Read more →

Alicia Keys has been popping up all over Paris Fashion Week. As Derek Blasberg tweeted, “Jeez, Alicia Keys has gone to as many shows as I have this season.” Keys made an appearance at Givenchy, where she caught up with W editor Edward Enninful. Photogs snapped the two in a handhold, which apparently means the two are having a steamy affair. At least, that’s what Media Takeout would like you to think, as they posted those photos under the headline “UMMMMM . . . This Could Be NOTHING . . . But . . Why Is R&B Singer ALICIA KEYS Holding Hands With THIS DUDE?????”
We eagerly wait for the pictures from every Chanel show to drop, because the house’s beauty guru, Peter Philips, always does something unique and trendsetting. For many seasons it’s been covetable nail color, but for the spring 2012 show artfully placed pearls were a key beauty design element–and today, Chanel took the gem beauty theme Read more →
Kanye West shoes are getting all kinds of publicity lately.
West‘s second runway show is set to take place tonight in Paris. The anticipation is killing us and apparently the shoes are killing Kanye’s models, like Jourdan Dunn. As the blog Glamazons pointed out, the British beauty took to Twitter over the weekend–presumably while at a fitting for tonight’s show–to sound off on the footwear.

PARIS–People in Paris are still talking about the Rick Owens show. Not about the clothes, or even the fire on the runway, but the soundtrack. It was Zebra Katz’ “Ima Read” and everyone over here is obsessed. It’s starting to make Azealia Banks’ “212″ seem in the distant past (though Banks follows Zebra Katz on Read more →
At last night’s Kenzo show, rain-soaked guests were treated to a little something sweet to eat, in addition to a fantastic show. A Magnolia cupcake rested on each guest’s seat. More were stacked up at the exit. It’s always so nice when fashion shows feed the fashion people. We really do eat and are usually Read more →
The first few days of Paris have likely been a bit of a palette cleanser for the fashion crowd, with long lines of all black, gothic-inspired looks which diametrically oppose many of the popular trends so far in the fall 2012 collections, namely the all-over print. The city is home to its fair share of Read more →
Day 2, Paris fashion week, over. Check. I saw Carven, Balmain, and Nina Ricci. I saw massive chandeliers at two out of three of those shows (guess which ones?). Delfina Delettrez walked me through her wonderfully imaginative fall jewelry. I also got the gorgeous Hanneli Mustaparta to show off her mysterious armor-leotard get-up. I thought Read more →
PARIS–I stopped by Colette today on the way home from Balmain because Carven designer Guillaume Henry was wearing the cutest white t-shirt with his initials embroidered on it and he said he got it at Colette. Turns out It was a limited edition thing. Tant pis. A future project for P.S. I Made This? But Read more →
We know, we know. The rumor mill about who will succeed Galliano at Dior has gotten out of hand and we’re only contributing to it. But we couldn’t not share this juicy little tid bit. We heard from our source close to Dior late last night that flowers were delivered for Monsieur Ackermann, who, um, doesn’t work at Dior…yet? Our source called the situation “embarrassing” and “bizarre.”
Bizarre indeed. Ackermann was one of many names tossed into the ring as a possible successor to Galliano but was never one of the ones that stuck. It is worth noting that Ackermann did, of course, intern for Galliano, and told WWD of the experience that it was “the best study ever.”
OK, so today wasn’t technically day one of Paris fashion week. Anthony Vaccarello started the week off with a bang yesterday–Karlie Kloss‘ first appearance of the season and falling models, oh my!–and Cedric Charlier debuted his first solo collection. But things really got started today. From vintage Zandra Rhodes on the runway for the first Read more →
Thank goodness Maje, the French high street label, has an outpost in New York now. The brand, and its sister Sandro (literally the two brands are owned by sisters), both showed up stateside this year to well-deserved buzz. Both labels consistently put out luxe looking pieces– boiled down looks from the best of the last season’s runways–and voila, instant Parisian street chic! (You can shop both brands online, too).
We previewed the fall collection yesterday and, yes, it’s really good.
Karlie Kloss‘ triumphant return to the runway wasn’t the only thing people were talking about at the Anthony Vaccarello show today in Paris. The designer also debuted his new shoe collaboration with Giuseppe Zanotti. The sexy, strappy, pointed toe stilettos are smoking hot, to be sure, but actually walking in them proved to be a Read more →
PARIS–The fashion world has been missing model Karlie Kloss and her famous pegs all month. The model-of-the-moment didn’t walk in New York, London or Milan because for some mysterious big opportunity–”a game changer ;) #LovingLife” she Tweeted on February 9. But she’s back and burning up the runways, making her Paris debut opening Anthony Vaccarello’s Read more →
