The British press–and let’s face it, pretty much everyone else, too–wants Kate Middleton to be pregnant. Every time her hand grazes her belly, reports surface that it’s a baby bump. Just think for a minute about the bump watch frenzy that will accompany that blessed event. While no one knows whether or not the Duchess is up the duff carrying royal progeny, Tatler magazine decided to devote its February cover to her, running the headline “What to Expect When You’re Expecting.”

Not surprisingly, the Duchess didn’t sit for the cover portrait according to WWD–it’s a file photo. The spread inside (below) shows a glowingly happy KMid and some month-by-month tongue-in-cheek tips for how to deal with her pregnancy in the spotlight. We got our hands on the full article, and pulled out some of the funniest advice:

Kate Middleton and William hit the red carpet in the UK Saturday night for the royal premiere of Steven Spielberg’s latest movie, War Horse. Kate’s gown was made by Middleton family favorite, Alice Temperley. The dress, a long narrow column with black lace overlay, is weirdly reminiscent of her wedding gown, except in black obviously. The Duchess definitely has a “look” and sticks with it. Read more »

Final Preparations Are Made Ahead Of The Royal Wedding

What with the whole marrying a prince and shooting to international fame thing, I think it’s safe to say that 2011 was a pretty damn good year to be a Middleton.

But besides the obvious (fairy-tale wedding, designers vying to dress them, etc), Kate and Pippa triumphed in several other ways: They set trends, broke records (or helped to), traveled the globe, and had thousands of women doing lunges and squats in an effort to get that perfect Middleton bum.

Read on to relive the best Middleton moments from 2011.

There are so many things to focus on when looking at an image of Kate Middleton–her style, her eyeliner, whether or not she looks a teeny bit pregnant. But the Telegraph caught a view of the Duchess that we rarely get to see, and indeed, have never even thought to consider: Her derriere. Read more »

Would You Rather? Kate and Pippa Middleton Plunging Red Gown Edition

Friday, Oct 14, 2011 / 1:30 PM

Kate Middleton stepped out last night with hubby William to attend a charity gala in London wearing a long-sleeved scarlet gown by Beulah London. Pippa Middleton donned that red slinky Temperley number last week for a celebrity boxing match. We know by now that Pippa’s style is a bit flashier than her sister’s but that’s a pretty plunging neckline on Kate’s dress. And they’ve both been wearing a lot of red lately. So trendy! Read more »

People reached out to the palace to try to get some scoop on whether or not Kate Middleton may be considering a shoot with Vogue, as was reported yesterday. While the thought of a Mario Testino shoot with the Duchess doubtless had many mouths watering (think of the newsstand sales!), it looks like it won’t be happening, at least at this moment.

A palace spokesperson told People, “There are no plans for the Duchess to do anything with U.S. Vogue.” Kinda terse, no? But they didn’t say never.

Kate Middleton and sis Pippa got rather posh this weekend for a friend’s wedding in Wiltshire, England. While we like seeing them in their high street ensembles, we really love it when they look completely English in hats and color.

Kate broke out the Erdem again, this time a scarlet lace version. (The DailyMail reports that she wore Collette Dinnigan, though we’re more inclined to believe WWD which reported that it was Erdem.) The shoes are also a point of contention between the two papers–WWD reports LK Bennett, and the Daily Mail thinks they’re Prada. She topped it all off with a jaunty red hat, which is not the same one she wore with that famous red and white Canadian outfit.

It goes without saying that the world (us included) has gone a little mad for Kate Middleton. The Duchess’ high-low accessibly style has earned her spots on a bajillion Best Dressed Lists, including Vanity Fair’s, as well as a cult-like chronicling of her daily outfits on countless blogs (again, ours included). She’s so popular that it seems not approving of her would be akin to social suicide. However, not everyone is a fan. Check out our roundup of those who’ve dared to diss Duchess Catherine and what they’ve had to say.

Vivienne Westwood

After the Royal Wedding: “I would have loved to have dressed Kate Middleton, but I have to wait until she catches up in style a bit.”
In a recent interview with The Sunday Times “I think she’s got a problem with eye make-up! The sharp line around her eyes make her look hard. Either she should be smudgy or wear none…Let me put it this way. It seems to me that her image is ‘ordinary woman’. Therefore, high street shopper. And I just think she should be an extraordinary woman, wherever she gets her clothes from.”

Remember that straw-colored hat that Duchess Catherine wore to Zara Phillips’ wedding last weekend? The one that looked a lot like a potato chip (a Pringle specifically)?

New details about the hat reveal that Duchess Catherine actually had a hand in designing it.

While Kate shopped her closet for her wedding outfit, wearing a lace dress by Collette Dinnigan and a brocade coat by Day Birger et Mikkelsen that she’d worn to wedding in 2006, her hat was brand new and bespoke.

The Duchess enlisted milliner Gina Foster to create her wedding topper, People is reporting, though that floral detail on the underside of the hat was all Kate’s idea. That detail was a great touch–it added interest and femininity to a shape that might otherwise have been overly potato-chip-y. Kate had a lot of input in the design of her wedding dress as well–could there a budding designer emerging?

Vanity Fair has just released a preview of the 72nd installment of their famous annual International Best-Dressed List.

As usual, it’s a mixed bag of royals, financiers, socialites and entertainers. Yes, Kate Middleton, whose style we’ve been tracking since her royal engagement, makes her debut on the prestigious list as the Duchess of Cambridge (she’s listed as the wife of the future King of England). However, this isn’t her first time on the list–her inaugural appearance was in 2008.

There are a few other repeats–Carla Bruni-Sarkozy (no surprise there), Carey Mulligan (whom we love), Lady Gaga, who many people didn’t agree with last year, and Michelle Obama, who makes her fifth consecutive appearance–this time with President Obama as a best dressed couple. Another one of our faves, Tilda Swinton, made a well-deserved return to the list after a three-year hiatus. Musician and Lagerfeld muse Janelle Monae is an exciting newcomer and refreshing addition to list, which tends to disregard younger, edgier people.

As for the men, actor Colin Firth and actor/fashion designer Justin Timberlake make their debuts on the list. Firth’s role in A Single Man couldn’t have hurt his chances and it’s good to know that wearing a tragic denim suit to an awards show early in your career is something you can bounce back from. Click through for a sneak peek of the list.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are looking like they need a few days of rest. After their whirlwind North American jaunt and Zara Phillips’ recent wedding, they recently took a stroll in Holyrood Park. The press reported that the couple flew coach home from the wedding, which–let’s face it–can make anyone look a bit stressed out.

But look at their matching purple sweaters. And the collars of their button-downs poking out just-so. Planned? Read more »

For Duchess Catherine‘s first royal wedding that was not her own, she wore a cream colored embroidered coat with a hat that looks a lot like a potato chip only with flowers on the underside. Kate being Kate, the outfit she wore to Zara Phillips‘ wedding to Mike Tindall–sans hat–is a repeat look. The Huffington Post is reporting that Kate wore the same coat back in 2006 at the wedding of Laura Parker Bowles’ to Harry Lopes.

The Duchess looks beautiful and radiant as she always does–maybe even more so since the attention is not focused as much on her for this event. Check out her look (and that hat) from all angles. Don’t you think that hat looks like a Pringle? Just a little?
