Kate Moss
Nina's Last Interview; Kate's Knickers
May 02, 2008 @ 10:46am
The May issue of Prestige Hong Kong has an interview with former ELLE editor Nina Garcia, while she was still at ELLE.
The interview really isn't that interesting until the very end, when Garcia starts to talk about the high turnover in the fashion industry, sort of alluding to her own shaky position that she must have known about -
"The turnover is very quick. So people get even more insecure about their jobs and positions, the hierarchy. It’s silly! But you have to keep it in perspective. It’s only fashion.”
But the issue has an even more fun little snippet than Nina's -
Some first-ever seen images from the upcoming Kate Moss for Agent Provocateur ads (more on that, in video form, later).
We can't believe she's supposed to look "virginal."
Kate Moss: The Commercial
Apr 21, 2008 @ 11:05am
Now that Kate Moss has returned to Agent Provocateur, she's already back at work filming underwear videos for the brand. Here are outtakes from her first escapade, sent in by a source. They're cool, but... wow, we never realized how thin Kate Moss actually is until now... not so sexy, huh?
Kate, Poetess
Apr 15, 2008 @ 9:32am
Remember back when Nick Knight requested flower donations for his December shoot with Kate for V?
Well the shoot is shot, photoshopped and can be bought on stands - but of course Mr. Knight also has a blog to which he must attend, and this time around, he used the shoot's extra bits to make a little video of Kate. Speaking.
Actually, reciting.
Click to listen to Kate's ghost-like rendering of Roddy Lumsden's poem "Bloom."
Try not to get the chills.
Kate Moss, The Biography
Mar 20, 2008 @ 3:20pm
We hear that Colette is getting ready to sell a new Kate Moss biography in its Paris store, though the book itself will be in English.
The bio will differ from other Kate Moss books (like this one, from the late and wonderful editor Liz Tilberis) because instead of being a picture vault, it'll actually feature episodes and background on Ms. Moss' life.
But whether any parts of the book will be true is something unlikely to be confirmed.
Smartly, except for speaking of her Topshop line to Vogue UK, the supermodel is still not doing any interviews, anywhere...
Laurie Bing Takes Some Kate Moss Turf At Rimmel
Mar 10, 2008 @ 1:43pm
Of course, being a style icon, a "designer," a mom, and maybe the best partier of the late 20th century does take a lot of time, and so Ms. Moss can't be available for every shoot.
Enter Laurie Bing, a young model, who recently posed for some Rimmel looks sans the great Kate in New York City.
The photos will only be shown to beauty editors and makeup industry professionals, at least for now. But with her doe-eyed gaze and wispy figure, it's not hard to see how Ms. Bing could be another rock and roll waif in the making.
That is, if Francis Bean Cobain doesn't beat her to it.
Kate's Manifesto Hits Manhattan
Feb 28, 2008 @ 1:07pm
We've often argued that fashion is always a political statement, even if you don't want it to be:
And maybe Stefano Pilati agrees.
The head designer of Yves Saint Laurent has sent out another Manifesto - this time a series of Kate Moss photographs - and decked Houston Street in New York City with giant Kate Moss panels backed with mirrors and glass.
The effect is a little too small for the massive Manhattan energy - and further dwarfed by a Kate Bosworth for Calvin Klein billboard hanging above the YSL space - but it's still pretty cool, if you like Kate and luxury brands and weird branding and all that.
If you're insulted that a company demanding $300 for a t-shirt and $1000 for a dress would deign to use the word "manifesto" as anything but a prediction of their own proletariat demise...
Well, we can't help you there. Kate looks cute though.
Spotted: Kate Moss at the Mercer!
Feb 11, 2008 @ 8:39am
We hear from a booker at Kate's agency that Ms. Moss checked herself into the Mercer Hotel in Manhattan yesterday.
The unlikely rumor is that she's shooting a Marc campaign (again: UNLIKELY) but we think we know the real reason she's in town:
Because the boyfriend of Miss Moss, Jamie Hince, is in town for a Kills concert at the Bowery Ballroom.
The show's being thrown by NYLON to celebrate their latest cover ("The London Issue"). No word on whether Kate will attend, but it'll be fun to look for her -
Of course, she could be on that made-up Marc shoot instead (ha).
Rumor Mill: Kate Moss To Open Vivienne Westwood!!!
Jan 29, 2008 @ 9:30am
We hear Kate Moss is opening the Vivienne Westwood Red Label show on Valentine's Day in London.
If that's true, it means Prince performing at Matthew Williamson and Nicole Kidman starring in an Antony & Alison movie - both stunts from last season - will be pelted to the dust, because really, when was the last time you saw Kate Moss on a runway?
Our only wonder is if it violates her TopShop contract to appear publicly on behalf of another brand, though since Ms. Moss is the face of YSL, Cavalli, and a million other things, we guess it's not a concern.
Kate's not slated to be in New York for our Fashion Week, but that doesn't mean the British models have abandoned us:
Lily Donaldson, Daisy Lowe, Jacquetta Wheeler, and Agyness their Queen are all confirmed for several shows (already!), and if that's not enough, take heart:
We saw Sienna Miller on the street today; we bet she'll be at Rag + Bone.
Kate Makes a Bag; Kate Makes an Ad
Dec 17, 2007 @ 10:31am
TopShop isn't the only place where Kate Moss designs.
The supermodel and wannabe super mogul also put her stamp on the Longchamp Legend Bag, which launches in its second incarnation this February.
The Legend Bag has a boxy fit and a red interior hand-picked by Kate, who models a shiny scarlet version in their upcoming ad campaign.
But it looks like the bag isn't the only thing Kate's inspired:
Check out her outfit in the ad, including a pair of black PVC leggings that look identical to the ones she wore at this summer's Glastonbury Festival, where she sang with Pete Doherty just before their big and rather blustery breakup in the Fall.
The big difference, of course, is that this pair isn't spattered in drippy, trippy mud.
Coming Attractions
Dec 13, 2007 @ 9:22am
Kate moss poses for V Magazine at Nick Knight's Show Studio... guess that means she won't be with her boyfriend, Jamie Hince, at the Chloe / Guggenheim ball tonight.
Kate's Coming Over
Dec 04, 2007 @ 12:15pm
Will Kate Moss cut the ribbons on TopShop's first American store?
That's what we're hearing from sources inside TopShop, even though we'll have to wait about a year to find out for sure.
Kate's currently in Mexico shooting the latest TopShop campaign, and we hear her Spring '08 collection is "very Jade Jagger in Ibiza," which means her printed caftans from last season sold well enough for the supermodel / supermogul to do a second round.
Meanwhile, second helpings of Kate's first-ever collection for TopShop are 50% off on the store's site - we highly recommend the racerback tank dress, which retails for about $50 and has saved our fashion sense on more than one occasion.
V Magazine Says, Donate for Kate!
Nov 21, 2007 @ 10:50am
V's photo shoots are always brilliant, but who knew their business savvy was just as sharp?
We found out today, when we got word that the magazine will put Kate Moss on an upcoming cover - with a set bought partly by V readers and Kate Moss fans, instead of by the magazine!
Here's the deal:
ShowStudio genius Nick Knight will shoot Kate in mid-December, on a giant floral background that his team will design.
That's where the fun starts - there's been a call on ShowStudio.com for flower donations , which Nick Knight will photograph for possible use in V.
According to their website, "Nick Knight will be photographing a variety of flowers to create a three-dimensional photo sculpture around which the supermodel will be posed. He is inviting all Kate fans... to send floral tributes to Kate...
Simple sprays of freesias are very welcome, and hand-ties of peonies even better, but our advice is to get creative to ensure your contribution stands out and makes it.
Accompanying greetings cards bearing written intimacies, proposals of marriage and general kind wishes (within the bounds of decency) will be given to Kate on the day of the shoot, so make sure you remember to include your name and location!"
As for their location, it's SHOWstudio, Export House, 25-31 Ironmonger Row, London EC1V 3QN.
Donations accepted until December 5.
