Kate Moss, Pop Idol

Kate Moss has showcased her vocal talents before, most notably in Primal Scream's cover of "Some Velvet Morning"... and that weird Pete Doherty duet from last spring.

But could she soon have a hit single of her own?

American Idol czar Simon Cowell got snapped with Kate at the launch of her Christmas collection for TopShop on Tuesday, and Style.com reports they were hanging out all night.

We don't think it was because he's a modelizer - although yes, that too - but rather, because he wants to sign the supermodel.

"I would like to offer Kate Moss a recording contract, whether she can sing or not," the music mogul was quoted as saying in The Mirror last year.

"The thing about Kate is that she's a star - it's the 'Kate factor'. People attach themselves to her and instantly become interesting."

Will Kate follow pal Naomi Campbell's footsteps and release her own Baby Woman? Please say yes.

Mary Kate Dresses Like Actual Kate

we are so egocentric.jpg
Who What Wear Daily has a fun dish today on Mary Kate Olsen.

They chart an entire outfit from the starlet, right down to her sweatshirt -which they swear you can find at American Apparel, and that makes us psyched.

But something about Mary Kate's casual look made us look twice -

It seems to be the exact same one that Kate Moss wore when she announced her TopShop line.

Wrinkled three-quarter sleeves? Yes.

Brown belted jeans? Yes.

Haphazardly great jewelry? It's there.

Even the fried, flyaway blond hair that's messy / sexy / unconditioned seems to be mirrored from Kate.

But somehow, we don't think MK's gonna go there and do the bangs, too... though we've been wrong before.

Does Kate want to be Irina?

the way you love me.jpg
People.com has photos of Kate's new haircut , and we're still getting used to her heavy, straight-across bangs.

Some of us think she looked better without them, but then again, she's Kate Moss, so she can't look bad.

More important, though, is the haircut choice:

Why is Kate Moss sporting Irina's signature look? Is she trying to win back Pete (editor's note: no), or is this middle-school warfare, the kind where you snatch your best friend's signature style and rock it better?

If Kate dyes her hair brown, starts taking ballet class, and signs up for drum lessons then we're going to start worrying.

Otherwise, the haircut is actually a good reprieve for you:

If you've gotten trendy bangs cut in the last six months, you've now got at least another six before you should stress that they're over.

Buy Kate's House!

First Kate gets a new haircut -

Now Kate gets a new house?

That's the buzz from St. John's Wood, where the moss-covered home pegged to Miss Moss is reportedly on the market.

Figures put the two-story, three-bedroom house at about $7 million, but the house also comes with some fashion cred that you can't buy -

It's featured in countless paparazzi photographs that you can frame, ironically, in your new living room!

TopShop Ripoff?

Oct 05, 2007 @ 3:13pm

we like the silver top.jpgThe Daily Mail came up with the handy chart at left, just to rub it in American's faces that not only do we not have TopShop yet--

The pieces from Kate Moss's TopShop collaboration that have made it across the pond are much more expensive here.

TopShop reps told the Daily Mail that "they didn't have jurisdiction on prices, adding that import costs and taxes could push up US prices by almost three-and-a-half times."

Still, that doesn't explain why most of the collection retailed for prices much closer to the UK's last season.

The real reason for the increased mark-up?

Some say poor sales.

Barneys was left with a lot of Kate Moss for TopShop at warehouse sale time and in order to prevent the same situation, they may have placed a smaller order and decided to charge more per item.

Oddly, the piece that seems to be selling best on Barneys website is the t-shirt screened with Kate's face. Maybe that proves that the audience for this collection is indeed only the most loyal of Kate fans.
